Crayford F.C 3 - 1 Fleetdown Sunday (Cray Nomads)
The Battle of The Duke's Head team Crayford F.C 1st Team continued their impressive pre-season form with an excellant 3-1 against Senior Division title contenders, Fleetdown Sunday, formerly known as Cray Nomads. With 3 1st team players out and playing a team from 3 divisions above, we were up against it from the start, however, we stood firm defensively for 30 minutes and our goal never looked threatened throughout the 1st half. We went ahead through Dean Stone after some good play in the midfield, and we could have made it two had it not been for Arran Young missing a penalty. Fleetdown Sunday came out hungrier in the 2nd half, however, only serious chance was created and that was a comfortable save for the keeper in the end. Fleetdown bossed possession, however, they still could not get passed our solid defensive unit of Sevenoaks, Hughes, Sells, Town and Holmes. Although we never really got our passing game going as we would have liked , we did cause them quite a few problems on the break, notibly down the right-hand side through Terry Murphy, who came out of goal for the second-half. He was the architect of our two goals scored, one either side of a Fleetdown penalty miss. Shaun Chatton grabbed the 2nd whilst Deano bagged his brace with our 3rd of the game. There was still time for a long-range Fleetdown consolation goal but it was too little too late, and Crayford F.C picked up an impressive scalp. Ratings David Read - 8 Carl Sells (c) - 9 Ben Sevenoaks - 9 George Hughes - 9 Chris Town - 9 Jamie Holmes - 8 Andy Hall - 9 Roy Dunsdon - 8 Arran Young - 8 Terry Murphy - 9 Shaun Chatton - 8 Dean Stone - 8 A great team performance, let's carry it on through the season now. |
