Outside of the 90 degree view criteria, erect laterals have been consider valid for fluid levels. ie. seeing behind PA view levels, too.
An old article in the Journal of Otology suggested that all laterals be done at a 5 degree oblique. This was to be able to visualize bilateral structures that a true lateral would obscured by overlapping. |
