I will try this forum for a while, and if it works, leave it up. I will monitor it, and delete things that aren't relevant. I will not correct nor criticize anyone publicly. Now, let's hear it!! |

Hey Fredas , This could work if the people will use it. Maybe getting to know each other or getting info about Cardin and Picher. Good luck from a good friend , Tom |

Well, yea, Tom, it can be a good deal. Too bad so many kids from Cardin were rendered unable to read and write by that demon lead. I know a lot more check this site than we hear from, but since they can't walk and chew gum at the same time, they are unable to contact us. |

FREDAS: You are The Man! You've not only given the rest of us something nostalgic to read when we get homesick, but you've also given it to us in a way that is, I'm sure, unique among other Web sites of its kind. In fact, you've put CardinKids in a class all by itself. Don't look now, but I think your journalistic talents are showing, my friend. God Bless and thanks for giving so much of yourself.-Gerald Breeden |

Hey Fredas, great idea! Just got to figure a way to keep Gurl Breeden off the site, the lead really affected him! Ha Ha. No kiddin, I think this is a great idea, I will keep you posted on Eureka Springs, AR and the fun things going on up here too, just dont let Gurl know! Ha Ha Eureka has the Great Passion Play from May to October and music shows and lots of shopping. An old historical town in a beautiful setting in the mountains of the Ozarks. Keep up the good work. |

FREDAS: Please don't tell anyone that Wanda is my cousin. If you do, or if anyone else does, I'll deny it to the bitter end. (Ain't she a hoot!)I have a feeling our other cuz, FloydFay Williams, will be writing soon. You and he being former sailors could probably tell the rest of us a few salty stories or two. How 'bout it? Gerald |

I just figured it had been too long since we got together to shoot the bull, and this would be the chaepest, easiest way to do it. I still have trouble believing we can do this! The "Chat Pile" never reached this many people! |

A lot of good friends have passed away along with Picher and Cardin, I will miss them and our towns tremendously! The towns didnt just fade away, they left with a bang! We are known all over the states now. Good or bad we will still live in the memories of people that never had the pleasure of being there before the discovery of lead in the soil. I will never know if the soil affected my life or not, too many things that could of been from it, had a beautiful little girl after moving away from Picher that passed away at 2 that certainly could of been related to the soil but she is with Jesus now and walking on the richest soil of all. But I will always love my home towns and that blessed area. Thanks Fredas for making it posible for us all to share. |

Well, I didn't find this section of the website by myself. As usual, someone (Tom) had to point me in the right direction. This is a very good idea. Just wanted to check in to let you know I'm here (still). Will try to check in regularly too! Keep up the terrific work kiddo!!!! |

Hey thanks Tom for letting me know about the site. I'm just kinda a Cardin kid, because of the drug store. I'm not the best at commenting but I love to read the stories. Thanks Fredas, it is a good way to keep up with our memories. |

Twila (Susie Wood) pointed out that the clock was wrong. You can tell she was affected by the lead, the clock was fine The CALENDAR was a day off, though. Keep up the good work, and help me get this stuff right!!! |

Well, the Class of 63 can certainly not let the Class of 62 post without also weighing in. The old salts comments piqued my interest. My son, Jason, is in the Navy now - nuclear submarine. |

Hey Tommy! Hope all is going well for you, glad you finally got to move back to Oklahoma, California is beautiful but definitley does not compare to being home, I lived there for about 6 years and I will take the midwest anyday. Hey Pete and Pumpkin, nice to see you all are still around, I remember you girls so well, we all sure had a great childhood didnt we. So nice of Fredas to make this communication posible for us. Gerald Breeden and Floyd Williams (my dear cousins) and I have been communicating for several years now and are doing a small reunion every year, we have a great time. Would love to see all you Picher and Cardin people too, maybe we can plan a reunion in Eureka Springs, sometime for anyone interested. They always rent a condo and we sometimes go to Branson or just sit around and visit. Something to think about? |

Hey, Pete and Punkin: Ditto what Wanda May said. I still remember y'all as if it I last saw you yesterday. Life was never dull with you guys around. In fact, you were so wonderful and so full of fun and laughter that Wanda and I want to make y'all honorary members of the Great Class of '62. We don't let just anyone in, you know, so we hope you will accept the honor. If you do, you will be entitled to a week's stay free of charge at Wanda's Inn of the Ozarks. Wanda said she would pick up the tab or just write it off. Isn't she generous? Did you read her post about meeting in YourSqueakySprings for a reunion? She picked YourSqueakySprings 'cause she lives on Beaver Lake near there and is too skeered to travel very far. (Or too cheap, take your pick!) Anyway, so good to read your posts and your's, too, Tom. Tom, a word of caution: don't let Wanda May know where you live on Grand Lake. You might wake up some morning and find her camped on your front lawn...If you do, just call the Animal Control people and they'll take it (her) from there...Y'all be blessed!!!PS: I love ya, Cuz! |

This is great. Thanks to both Fredes and Tommy for this. I'll read them to Ray and I know he will love hearing about what all of you are doing. "Pumkin" was and may still be the Love of his life. I don't know when they spoke last but I would say its been years. Merry Christmas to all of you anf he Best og New Year. |

Does anyone know who heads up the Picher/Cardin reunions? Both Miners and All School. We need to find out if this can still be held maybe in a different location. I will miss getting to see old friends that I only see at these get togethers. Give me some feedback. |

You know, I've been worried about that too. It only about 6 months away from our regular reunion time. Does anyone know anything about who/what/when or if?? I really don't want to think about NEVER seeing some (most) of our people again. |

WOW! Have you all been in the dark and cold like I have. I lost power Sunday nite and it was restored last nite (Tuesday). I just got my cable, internet, and phone back today. That ice is no fun. It is so neat to "hear" from all you fine folk. Fredas and Tommy, I thank you dearly for coming up with this site. It's great! How cool to be an honorary member of the Class of 62...I think? Looking forward to the vacation by the lake! Sandy where are you all? |

Hello Wanda And Gerald. It is nice to be back to Oklahoma. We have gone through 2 major ice storms now. Thought we would have tornadoes but all we have had is ice. Was in your town in summer. Cost me a fortune. Gotta keep the gals away from there. Too many shops. Janice you will always be a Cardin Kid. Where else could we get ice cream when we were kids.Great to hear there might be another reunion. How about holding it during the County fair in Miami. We could take over a big area of Fair and call it Miners Reunion. Well we missed the first big storm this weekend, but it is supposed to start snowing this afternoon for the second onslaught. Merry Christmas to all, Tom and Vicki. |

Tom... I rec'd an email the other day and was told there is a reunion planned for 2008; said it would be at Twin Bridges Park? Also, said Susie Crawford is on the reunion committee. I would assume she could probably tell us what is planned if we asked her. I haven't talked to her about it yet, as the storm is continuing in that area. I suppose she probably has her hands full with the move and the storm on top of it: don't you think? I see on the news where Grand Junction, Colorado is also having a terrible storm. That's where Ruby O. is. Gotta email her to see how they are doing... Hope all is well with you and yours. Understand almost everything in Ottawa, County is down, as is Baxter, Columbus, etc. How's the weather at your house? |

Great website! Just thought i would check in and wish everyone the best of holidays and hope the weather gets better there. Hate to hear all the bad news about the ice storm and it's effect on all. I'm hoping for the best for everyone there! Jim and Donna Heatherly |

Hey cousin. Glad to see you plug in here. I lost power for 48 hours. Dickie (my "baby" brother) just got his power back on yesterday. Jack (my bigger brother) was without power for 72 hours. Earnie (my oldest brother) got power Sunday. It is absolutely awesome to see so many electric service trucks/workers here from all over the country, helping us. Merry Christmas to all and the best New Year ever! |
