One of the great things about John's site is that he doesn't have all the bells and whistles that many people splash all over so their site looks like an explosion in an icon factory.
One of the first techniques you use when your statistics are less than stellar is to "pretty up" your pictures. This also works well with the scientifically illiterate, (i.e. most politicians.)
