and you find from a real cable manufacturer that 15 kV power cable weighs between 4950 and 11,500 kg/km. Their assumption that you can get power transmission from a cable weighing just 2 per cent of the lightest aluminum transmission cable made today is simply not credible.

At that sort of mass quoted by Dodge Phelps, the cable will not support its own weight and will need a steel reinforcing structure. Aluminum simply doesn't have the mechanical strength for spans kilometres long.
