I did a bit of Googling to see who this Tuukka Simonen character is who seems to be leading the charge against the AGW sceptics. He's a member of the Finnish Green party and his only connection with climate science seems to be that he participated in the climateprediction.net exercise (that exercise from a year or two ago, promoted by the BBC, where a large number of home PCs are used to run climate models).

I suppose as far as an environmental lawyer is concerned, that's enough to claim he's a climate scientist.
On the issue of AGW possibly causing an economic tipping point like the 1929 stock market crash, that reminds of some quote attributed to Rockefeller that he knew the 1929 Crash was coming when he noticed that the shoe-shine boys were starting to give out stock market tips. With AGW we now have a similar situation where unlikely experts seem to have established themselves, like celebrities giving out scientific advice and the Green lobby making major engineering policy decisions. |
