Well I do remember that the foodstuff that linked many cases was tomato salsa. Therefore it seems a bit funny to me that they did not look at hot peppers at the same time as tomatoes because those are the 2 things you will find in tomato salsa without fail. The other ingredients vary greatly but without tomatoes and at least a little bit of hot peppers, it's not salsa. I just hope they don't go completely off the market, they are a favorite of mine.
They do hush up food poisoning cases over here, particularly concerning raw vegetables. So much so that the public mistakenly thinks that beef/chicken are tops at causing food poisoning when I believe alfalfa spouts win that one.
Another thing they do not report about food poisoning cases or report it only mildly is if the food involved is "organic". Remember the big spinach scare- that was due to organic spinach.
Of course many of these cases could have been avoided with proper use of irradiation but no, can't have the "R" word anywhere near our food. |
