Hmm, indeed. Luckily those sections are still separate over here so avoiding that obvious market ploy is fairly easy. It's not so easy when eating out though; chefs are notorious in their superstition and ignorance.
I'd be surprised if you could get peppers to grow in the UK (I'm assuming you're there, many people on this forum seem to be there) as they require a fair amount of heat and lots of sun. The other seeds should have at least sprouted though.
