I'd trash the chives now, it's been quite long enough for them to sprout. Maybe it was your correct scientific attitudes that scared them off, LOL...
Sounds like you've got a decent place for peppers to grow, now if you can just get the flowers fertilized. Fresh veges are truly wonderful. Are these green peppers (sweet) or a hot variety?
I reside in Florida (AKA cheap vacation hotspot) so gardening is a winter activity and I do like to grow fruits and veges. Currently I'm in hybernation because summers here are dreadful. Hot, sticky, full of nasty bugs and thunderstorms, yuck.
That reminds me of the summer 2006 in the UK - I was on holiday for 3 weeks visiting the Isle of Man TT and Wales. It rained only 1 evening during that time and was miserably hot because barely anyone had a fan, much less air conditioning. Still, no rain makes for good motorcycle rides. |
