What a dilemma I am in!

Ok girls, have I got myself into a pickle! My current employer has come to me today, and has offered me a whopping $25,000 in additional salary if I stay here. I can't believe it - I am in complete shock. I really don't know what to do anymore.
I am trying to rationalize and make a list of pros and cons. Now, money wise we are talking basically the same amount, there is a difference of $2,000, in favor of my current employer. I am comfortable here, I love the job too. I wasn't leaving because I didn't like it. This new position was a good ooportunity, and more money. Now, it's a whole new ball game.
Gosh, I am becoming a bit stressed about this whole thing. I have not been able to reach my DH yet, because as you may remember, he is away at school. He will call me when he gets in later. I am very anxious to discuss it with him.
Any thoughts from you gals? I would certainly appreciate any advice you have for me! My head is spinning!

Re: What a dilemma I am in!

Well gals, I have more news for you! What a week this has been, a bit stressful, and wonderful all at the same time!
I have decided to stay with my current employer! I worked out the pros and cons with DH last night, and the pros were far longer than the cons to stay. Plus my employer came to me later yesterday, and offered a $5,000 "stay-on" bonus (to compete with the $8,000 signing bonus from the other company).
Wow, what a whirlwind week it has been! I'm glad that I have made my decision. It's a good one all around! Thanks for listening to my woes everyone!

Lynne...Lynne!! You didn't even give us all time to give you advice! LOL Now, that would just figure, isn't that a current employers job? To keep his employees? It sounds like he Really wants to keep you!! And my suggestion was just this...ask for a bonus...and it sounds like that's what he did! Good for you!! I'd route for you to stay at your job!! Congratulations to you!!!! It's a lot easier than learning a whole new job!

I know, I made the decision quickly! After working through all the pros and cons, it was just very evident!
And, yes, he definitely wants to keep me - I see that now! Good for me!
And best of all, I can still do a mini shopping spree Nadine! How cool is that?!

Wow, Lynne how exciting. You must really be valued at your present job and that is a good enough reason to stay, I think. With employment the way it is, it is nice to be valued by your employer. It sounds like you made a decision you will be happy with and you can still shop, what a great thing!!! LOL

Re: What a dilemma I am in!

Thanks Amy! I agree with you, the fact that they were willing to make an offer like that really shows that I am valued. I know I have been talking alot about the almighty $$$$$ in these posts, but it's not always all about that. You have to like your work, cause let's face it, you have to do it everyday. So if you like your job, and the people you work with, it makes going to work all the more better, right?! I am very happy with my decision, it was definitely the right one for me!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
