Did you know?
Did you know that the colours we all now associate with Brinklow F.C. are adopted from the Furigas Brinklow side which reformed the club back in 1989,however the old Brinklow Dun Cow team played in Yellow shirts and black shorts in the '70s. The adopted away colours now, are White shirts which Brinklow Furigas wore for one season but the old Brinklow White Lion side of the '80s wore white as well. Other colours adorned by Brinklow teams are All blue, Green and Black stripes, and Red and Blue stripes. |

Did you know that the ex-Coventry City player Gary Thompson played at Barr Lane?Well he did, because one Summer he arranged a football match to coincide with a Summer playscheme for the children of Brinklow. Another Ex-City player to play at Barr lane was Dave Bennett from City's F.A. cup winning side who turned out for his local side in a friendly. |

In the mid 1990s Brinklow were fortunate to have a player called Andrew Hogdkinson play for us.But did you know that Andrew's father, who often came to watch us, was none other than Alan Hodgkinson the Ex-Sheffield United and England Goalkeeper. At the time when he witnessed many Brinklow games,Alan was the goalkeeping coach of Manchester United,Glasgow Rangers and Scotland. It was weird that about six weeks after he watched Brinklow play in one of their 3 cup finals in '96 he was on the bench at Wembley as part of the Scotland Euro '96 coaching staff when England beat them after Gary Mcallister missed the penalty and Gazza scored that wonder goal followed by the infamous 'dentist chair'celebration. Many interesting conversations I had with Mr.Hodgkinson regarding the training techniques of Manchester United and Rangers. I will always remember that he was present at one of our training sessions where we were playing two-touch and he explained to me that he was coaching at United the other day and he was also taking a two touch exercise, the only difference was that within his session he had Cantona,Giggs and Schoales. Small footballing world, but miles apart. |

Name another Brinklow FC Coach who has graced the sacred turf at Highfield Road? Yes back in 1987 yours truly played in a charity match for the Princes Trust and 3 years later I played in a Cup Final at the Bescott Stadium the home of Walsall FC. Are there any more of us in the club who have played at a professional ground? Rich. |

During my spells in the Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bedworth United, and Warwickshire Youth set ups, I've been fortunate enough to play at several Professional and semi-Professional grounds whilst playing in the FA Youth Cup, winning the Premier Division of the Midland Floodlit Youth League, and representing my County. Martin I can not deny my heritage , it is just a cross or is it dragon I have to bear, but you will never be a true Englishman until you can embrace you past. Anyway in historic times my ancestors roamed this country doing what ever they wanted until those Romans turned up you Deno Zoff and his mates ,well they ran us off the park until we ended up in the land that time forgot commonly known as Wales. So there we were all us true blue Englishmen and the trogs stuck together. And then they (the romans) had the cheek to call us foreigners, which in the language of the day was pronounced "Welsh" and this is how the country we all mock got its name. Honest So 50% of Welsh men are actually English, I suppose this how you claim to be English too Martin.

Did you know that Matty Wilbys great grand Father played for Nottingham Forest, he was a winger & played in the quarter finals of the FA cup back in 1928 (I think!). Did you also know that Matty Wilby can't find his 'History of Nottingham Forest' book (hence the reason I can't remember the year) & will probably get strung up by his grand parents if they find out!!
