Tour comments 2006
We had a great time over the weekend, the weather was just right the facilities were good and the company was fantastic, all the different age groups mixing together players, parents and coaching staff will only make the club stronger. On the football side I thought the standard was very high in every age group. Although my lads found the games very difficult they tried their best and we could ask no more than that, They still wore giant grins when the got their trophies, and they will go away and remember some great moves they tried and saw. My only gripes are the standard of refereeing (it did seem that the refs were easily controlled by the supporters of some sides)and the quality of the equipment being used was poor, for example we had two incidents of the goals colasping duing a game. A great weekend with quality football, and a great club spirit bursting through. Everyone looked brill in the red tour shirts.

I agree with Mick's comments a really good weekend although the refs were not very good. Thanks to all of our players and supporters for representing the club in such a fantastic way. We have received many compliments on how we behaved and how sporting we were. I am very proud of the whole club and even though we did not win a trophy this year, I think it has been a great success. Rich.

The first thing that struck me was the mini-soccer venue,a huge field, very secure,a decent playing surface and obviously very close to the site, although goalpost safety needs to be tightened. I was extremely impressed at the standard of football in every age group which Brinklow of course contributed to,although the refs didn't quite provide the same competence as the players. I have to say, although rather biased,we as a whole club conducted ourselves in a very professional manner, and the yellow and blue on the pitches coupled with the sea of red tour shirts on presentation night was a sight to behold. Not the most successful tour in the way of silverware, but very enjoyable and many memories to savour. |

Could the people who travelled please place some feedback as to how they found the accommodation, presentation night,or anything else regarding the tour on this thread as I would like to send some feedback from our club to SCI. |

From the football front, The referee`s were very inconsistent and were easily swayed by some supporters and coaching staff! As they were so young they seemed intimidated by that. The goal posts were of poor quality and had to been repaired mid way through some game`s. The playing field`s for the 7 aside matches were of good quality and couldn`t have been any nearer, the on site facilities at the pitches were good although a little expensive! Overall the actual football side of things were superb with a little rough edges that could have been smoothed over i`m sure it would have been perfect. The accomadation was very very cold at night, but i suppose we can`t control the weather, The on park facilities were good with plenty for the children to do when they wern`t playing football. The presentation night was excellent for those with only 1 child, but if you had children in different age group`s there was quite a bit of confusion over who was providing the correct addmission tickets for each catergroy. The footballer TONY COTTEE was a pleasent surprise as he was from most of the adults generation but i`d be pretty sure any one under 15 would have struggled to identify him!! Overall a great but tiring weekend, I would definately be interested in touring again, as this was my son`s 1st tour for the under 8`s we didn`t know what to expect, but we wern`t dissappointed!! |

under 8's side of things - Pitch good, location good for playing. Referees poor which lead to a lot of confusion for the players not knowing what was expected off them from the referees. E.g a bad Tackle went in on our player, he went down and the ref should have stated a drop ball or a Free Kick, no, the ref wanted the player to pass back to the oppositions goalie, this took a few minutes as the little guys were unsure what was asked of them. We did beat the winners though. Only problem this year was that the atmosphere was not as good on the sidelines as last year and you couldnt watch any other Brinklow Teams. Under 12's. What a way to go for 4 games in a whole weekend. 2 academy teams to play (Pakefield who are Norwich Acamedy and the London Team Academy.) All I can say about these 2 teams is that we held our own and Norwich couldnt believe how much we had improved as they beat us 13-0 last year, and only beat us 4-0 this year. The only thing for the boys is that they go out defeated before they start. i would prefer to go to these tours without the academy teams in and play normal teams, then see how well we get on. An issue to raise to SCI is you would play your 1st game and wait around for 2 hours. Their was no sides to watch as we all seem to be on the pitches at the same time. On the Saturday last match, Brinklow and the other team were the last people in the whole field again no atmosphere. I have a postive about a referee on Sunday, Please pass this onto to SCI, an older guy refereed our 1st match and he was excellent. He talked to the kids all the way through the match and explained his decisions well done to him. The rest were rubbish. Accommodation Freezing cold not enough heating, All our waste went under the caravan not into the pipes. Facilities good. Presentation - I would love to be able to support all the teams at the presentation and i know this is not possible but would be great. We had a problem with getting our Presenation tickets for the 9pm performance as we had booked with the under 8's, this will need looking into and that some people couldnt given bring the older children to watch the younger ones get their trophies due to no ticket allocation. We looked fantastic though. CAN WE HAVE STEVEN GERRARD NEXT YEAR PLEASE.

Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming. I think the matters raised are generally common points of issue. I agree we can't control the weather, and the format of the age groups always depends on the amount of teams entered. On the presentation night I agree that it is very difficult for those of you who had more than one child, and Teddy Sheringham should have been the guest but West Ham recalled him to another event so Tony was sent as a last minute replacement. I will be writing to SCI once we get some more comments. Thanks and I am glad that you all seem to have enjoyed it. Rich. |
