Peugeot 4 Brinklow 1 ( Justin Neal ) An excellent performance saw Brinklow dominate large periods of this game for the first 80 minutes but just run out of steam to concede three late goals at the end of a very entertaining match. Brinklow started very brightly going close on a couple of occassions before a breakaway by our Premiere Division counterparts gave them the lead after 10 minutes. The lads didn't let their heads drop, equalising with the best goal of the game. An excellent pin point pass down the right wing from Birdy to Mayney who in turn pulled the ball back to the edge of the area for an unstoppable volley from Justin Neal. Scores level at half time. The second half was a little more even, with Peugeot having played three previous friendlies, finally edging the battle of fitness in the closing stages. A very promising start to our 2007-2008 campaign, with several new Brinklow players showing excellent potential. The team gave very strong signs of being able to cope with Premiere opposition who have reserve sides enableing them to draw from a much larger pool of players. |

Folly Lane III 1 Brinklow 1 (Justin Neal) By the scoreline this might seem like a very close game, however it was far from it, with Brinklow dominating from the first whistle to the last. Two dissalowed goals (one hitting the rear stantion and rebounding back into play), and poor finishing (two open goals and an abundance of clear cut opportunities) left the door open for Follies to deliver a sucker punch totally against the run of play. I was initialy very dissapointed with the result, however on reflection, we'd again totally outplayed opposition from a higher division. On another day it could quite easily have been double figures and on a tricky surface (the grass was just about ready for harvesting!), we managed to play some excellent football, pieceing together some great sweeping moves. We now look forward to our sternest test to date this Saturday. A meeting with the very strong Dunlop side from Coventry Alliance Premiere, who like Peugeot, play 3 divisions above us. Details to be arranged. |

Dunlop 2 Brinklow 4 (Andy Sorrel, Justin Neal, Dave Anderson, Ross Irvine) Being 4-0 up with 3 minutes to go, the lads managed to make the scoreline look respectable for our hosts by larking about at the back. Brinklow again dominated this game from the start with the defence being very solid and our 2 man middle of midfield, Birdy and Ross, outplaying their 3 man counterparts. The forward line of DA and Mark Woodward gave the opposition defence huge problems, being fed by the pace of Justin and Scott down the flanks. 3-0 up at half time and a cruise in the 2nd half. |

Brinklow 4 Dunlop Res 3 Lee Trainer, Ross Irvine, Richard Nelmes, Chris Bedder. A very understrength Brinklow started sprightly in their first league game of the season, going 2-0 up at half time through a 25 yard top corner strike by Lee Trainer and a coolly converted penalty by Ross Irvine. The 2nd half saw very much of the same Brinklow pressure with Richard Nelmes skipping by two defenders to fire into the roof of the net before Dale Huddlestone saved a very unjust penalty from the visitors. However, as the heat took it's toll and a little complacency slipped in, Dunlop managed to claw their way back into the game with a goal mouth scramble being stabbed home and then Huddlestone misjudging the bounce of a speculative shot come cross to see the ball sail over his head. With only minutes remaining Brinklow sustitute Chris Bedder managed to regain the 2 goal cushion before the visitors snatched a very late consolation. Fixtures: Sat 1/9/07 League at Home to Coundon Court Res Sat 8/9/07 League away to Hub Sat 15/9/07 League at Home to Witherley Utd Res Sat 22/9/07 TBA |

Apologies that we could only stay for the first half, but what a first half against a first division team (rather than their reserves). Three down after 20 minutes but pressure on their defence exposed weaknesses, produced two penalties and two open play goals for a half time score of 4:3 to Brinklow. It seems that by leaving we missed more great goals in the second half and a final score of 6:4 to Brinklow. A great result and another 3 points in the bag. Lets keep focussed on the football and enjoy the season. |

Brinklow 6 Coundon Court Res 4 Mark Bird 2, Mark Woodward, Dave Anderson, Kyle O'Conner, Chris Bedder. Brinklow went into this game without the services of seven first choice players and also knowing that the opposition had brought a very strong squad due to them having no first team game. It was no surprise that the visitors capitalised on the disarray within the Brinklow ranks, speeding into a 3-0 lead within the first 20 minutes. The Brinklow side, who incidentaly hadn't even met half of their team mates before the game, then managed to see a little more of the ball with forwards Marc Woodward and Lee Trainer forcing two penalties which were superbly executed by captain Mark Bird. As the home side gained in confidence the visitors began to panic at the back with Woodward and Dave Anderson both scoring headers to see a jubillant Brinklow go in 4-3 up at the break!! The second half was played at the same tempo with Coundon managing to force a penalty to equalise. This only served to spur Brinklow on though, and as the game turned very niggly within the final 15 minutes, the home side's never say die attitude saw debutant Kyle O'Conner jink past two defenders down the flank before firing past the helpless opposition keeper. In the final minutes sustitute Chris Bedder then slotted home for an amazing victory to Brinklow against all the odds!! |

Brinkow 1 The Hub 3 Lee Trainer Brinklow's unbeaten league run came to an abrupt halt on Saturday with a scrappy 3-1 defeat at the hands of a very fit and determined Hub side. Again Brinklow had several key players missing from the starting line up, but things were to get worse with Captain Mark Bird having to be replaced in the first 5 minutes due to muscle damage. The Hub capitalised on this and opened the scoring midway through the half by way of a snap shot from the edge of the Brinklow area. Brinklow rallied after this forcing a penalty, but the resultant kick by Paul A'Barrow was pushed onto the post by the visiting keeper. As the Brinklow heads dropped, The Hub managed to capitalise on the home side's dissapointment to go in 2-0 at the break with a sweet top corner strike. The second half was again scrappy but Brinklow managed to force several chances to get back into the game with Lee Trainer eventualy firing home from close range to give Brinklow a life line. Dave Anderson was then put clear at an angle but with the keeper routed to his line the ball was smashed onto the bar and hooked up the other end for The Hub to score the best goal of the game, another top corner finish from the outside of the stikers boot. |

AEI Rugby Res 1 Brinklow 3 Marc Woodward, Chris Bedder, Scott Vallance Brinklow travelled to AEI with the bare 11 for this league encounter but took control of the game within the opening minutes. On a very large and superb playing surface the Brinklow midfield of Micky Bullock and Ross Irvine stetched their AEI conterparts creating opportunities for strikers Marc Woodward and Chris Bedder who came close on several occassions. However it was the hosts who took the lead against the run of play, springing the offside trap to create a one on one which was slotted under the advancing Dale Huddlestone in the Brinklow goal. Despite this break away goal Brinklow didn't let their heads drop equalising through a snap shot from the edge of the area by Woodward after good work down the left flank by fullback Simon Bullock and winger Richard Nelmes. The second half was one way traffic from the start with Irvine creating space in the middle and slotting a defence splitting through ball to Bedder who showed excellent calmness to slot past the static AEI keeper. With the home side in disaray Brinklow stole a march on the game after good work from Micky Bullock again released Scott Vallance to fire into the opposition net. In the final period AEI brought on some more first team players but resolute defending by Si Bullock, Dave Anderson, and two excellent point blank blocks by James A'Barrow helped preserve the score line with Huddlestone making the best save of the game, flying to his left to turn round a fierce top corner drive. |

Coventry Evening Telegraph Junior Cup Folly Lane Res 1 Brinklow 2 Chris Bedder, Scott Vallnce. What a superb display of disciplined Football! Brinklow started strongly from the off, competing with our Alliance 1 counterparts in every department and soon starting to dominate the game within the opening period. The defence of James A'Barrow, Si Bullock, Dave Anderson, and MOM Paul A'Barrow were extremely organised with keeper Dale Huddlestone cleaning up anything that got through. With this the midfield had the confidence to then take the game to our hosts creating chances before a superb strike by Chris Bedder beat the giant Folly keeper firing into the roof of the net from 10 yards. With our hosts reeling from this Brinklow piled on the pressure and a throughball from the outstanding Ross Irvine found Scott Vallance on the penalty spot with his back to goal. With players around him screaming for a lay back, he simply 'span on a sixpence' and dispatched a curling left foot effort into the bottom corner of the net past the disparing dive of the 'Lane keeper. The game was very much in Brinklow's control when a strange penalty was given for handball even though none of the opposition players or supporters actually appealed for it! The second half was a more even affair with our hosts coming out a little more forcing two smart stops by Huddlestone within the oppening 15 minutes. But with the Brinklow team standing firm in defence and the midfield of Irvine and Andy Sorrell working tirelessly till the end, the forwardline of Bedder and Marc Woodward began to get hold of the ball, holding up for support and toataly killing the game off from the front. |

Cup Result: Brinklow 1 : 3 Ambleside This week/season so far has been a torrid time for the first team players, officials and coaching staff and I with the support of the committee have been appointed 1st team coach this Friday. Never have I ever known in all my years of being involved in football seen a 1st team of any football club going out with 11 players. The First team of any football club is without question the flagship side of any football club, and every player who plays for that club of whatever age should endeavour to play for the flagship side of the club. However, the 1st team went into this prestigious competition match with a bare 10.5 players, and we all know who was the 0.5. We could have and should have won this match easily but we didn't. The attitude, desire, hunger and true club spirit was there for all to see from the Brinklow players in yesterdays game and 9 of our committee members witnessed that, especially one in patricular who at 36 years of age rolled back the years and was without question Man Of The Match(I of course Jest). I as the new first team coach have promised the true Brinklow players that I will not go to any further fixture without a full compliment of committed players and THAT WILL BE THE CASE. I,along with many, many people have worked extremely hard for many, many years to build this fantastic club up,and WILL NOT STAND IDLY BY and allow alleged Brinklow players to pull it down. Every Brinklow 1st team player, official and supporter can stand with their heads held high, and look forward to a fruitful future because I have witnessed at first hand, the quality of young players who are chomping at the bit to represent Brinklow in their first team/the flagship side,in years to come. I am letting it be known that I had a vision many years ago that Brinklow Football Club could become one of the best clubs/sides in the Coventry area and I am more determined than ever that this will be the case, and after seeing the committment and grit showed by the 10.5 players on Saturday that WE will succeed, because I will make sure we succeed,SO GET WITH IT OR GET OUT! |

"PULFORD COMES HOME" I'm delighted to announce that Wayne Pulford has agreed to sign for our club, and the deal will be finalised on Thursday. "Pulf" brings with his fabulous talent a wealth of experience gained from many years in and around the semi-pro levels, and with his experience comes an abundance of potential contacts which can only help our cause. This signing proves that as a club we are determined to push for a higher standard of football. |

Cov Alliance 3 Result: Brinklow 2 : 0 Jag Daimler Great league result today for the 1st Team lads, after a disappointing run in various cup competitions. The win was grafted out today in strangely dark blustery conditions and on a playing surface that didn't allow for a quick passing game. We didn't start at all confidently, conceding a penalty in the first throws of the match, but Dale calmed the nerves with an unbelievable save to allow us to find our feet. We then kickstarted on from our early nerves and gradually settled into our attacking gameplan creating numerous opportunities which led to us taking a well deserved lead into half time, through Mark Woodward. Second half and I felt we lacked confidence in our own abilities and in the first 20 mins of the half, certainly came down to Jag's level. On went some fresh legs and a change of formation and we began to take the upper hand again, creating another 4 or 5 good goalscoring opportunities only thwarted by some excellent keeping and a well drilled linesman. Still patience prevailed and Chris Bedder put the result to bed with a fabulous finish which capped a magnificent workmanlike performance for the yellow and blues. Plenty still to work on,including our needless indisciplines, however, many positives to take from the game especially the win,the 15 players available for selection and the first sign of integration between our two senior sides, with Alex Olner making his debut for the 1st Team today. Many Thanks to all who supported the boys today especially our sponsors JEAGOR and thanks to Pete Day for running the line. Man of the Match: Dale Huddlestone Well Done to all the players,3 points in the bag and back in the hunt for promotion. Training Thursday 6.00pm Butlin Road. |

Cov Alliance 3 Woodlands 1 : 2 Brinklow A game Brinklow needed to go top and a game Brinklow won. Some excellent football was on show today coupled with some resolute defending and loads of desire. The two goals scored today were out of the top draw, with the first being a fabulous piece of vision from Lee Trainer and the second a superb team move with a brilliant finish from Ben Clarke. I felt we were always the better side today creating many chances, but the home side were always a menace with their aerial threat. A VERY PLEASING ALL ROUND SQUAD PERFORMANCE,but MOM went to Dave Anderson. Many thanks to all of the support given to the boys today and special mentions to Ben Clarke and Rob Wallace who travelled with the first team today and both had great games. Many thanks to Danny Bell today who kindly ran the line for us second half, much appreciated. Well Done all,top of the pile, let's make sure we stay there. |

Cov Alliance 3 Christ The King 1 : 0 Brinklow An extremely "bitter pill to swallow" is the only way I can describe the result today. Considering we had travelled to one of the divisions potential championship contenders,we never once looked like the visitors. Every player who pulled on that yellow jersey today was absolutely superb, and gave it their all. Yes we made mistakes, took the wrong options and at times were guilty of some silly indisciplines but we played like we were league leaders and I'll tell you what,we sent a signal out to every other side in the division that we are serious contenders for the title. Our only downfall today was our overeagerness to remain top of the pile which resulted in an over zealous challenge resulting in a penalty awarded to the opposition in the 85th minute. Over the course of the 90 mins I felt we were the better side and some of the football played was of the highest quality.CTK knew we had shaded it in terms of ability because of their celebrations at the final whistle. We know that this was a game we could have taken points from, however,we ain't half way through the season yet and we are getting better and better, but I doubt very much whether CTK can improve much more on their performance today. Yes we lost today, but I am now extremely confident with the squad we have assembled, and having travelled with 14 today, with 4 regulars absent, our squad is now up to a competitive 18 players. Well done to all the players today, excellent committment, effort and a little too much desire, but I'm not complaining. |

Alliance 3 Dunlop 1 : 2 Brinklow Nothing more to say other than this was a fantastic performance from all 14 in the squad today. We played some brilliant football this afternoon, which was only halted by the blustery conditions second half.We gave a sloppy goal away which gave Dunlop hope, but we were always in control, looked much the better side, defended extremely well, worked our socks off in midfield which gave us the platform to score two great goals. Well done to all of the players today,I'm well chuffed, see you all at training Thursday night. |

Cov Alliance 3 Mount Nod Highway 1 : 2 Brinklow A brilliant performance by a Brinklow team who are getting better and better. I am absolutely delighted with the 3 points gained yesterday and I am writing this report today as I was furious yesterday at the way the game was refereed and didn't want my report marred by what I witnessed by the official. We were a little disjointed in the first ten mins, but I take full responsibility for that due to the changes I made to the spine of the side, and it was in that spell that we conceded, however, every player adjusted quickly after going one down and I feel that we then went on to play some of our finest football of the season. We should have had a penalty, scored a perfectly good goal which was chalked off for no apparent reason, and then continued to dominate the game, but still went into the break losing. Second half we started a little slowly but then we got the elusive goal through a solo effort from the speedy skillful Chris Bedder and then a thunderous 30 yarder from Pulf sealed the points. We look like scoring every time we attack,we battle for every ball in the centre of the park and the skipper led the defence superbly. Our confidence and never die attitude against everything thrown at us on Saturday was immense. Another 3 points in the bag and another reminder that we mean business. Brilliant performances all round the park, and fabulous attitudes from every player involved.More is still to come, but we are certainly going in the right direction. MOM Mark Bird who just edged it from another 13 players.BRILLIANT!!! |

Cov Alliance 3 Coundon 1 : 1 Brinklow Not the performance or the result I/we were looking for, however,it was not the type of playing surface we were expecting either. The pitch was a great leveller today, although we should have been at least six up in the first quarter of the match. We didn't convert our chances and found ourselves losing 1-0 after an hour, to the bottom side.We managed to haul ourselves level 15 minutes later which is the way it finished. Our achilles heel today was our finishing, and although the effort was there we simply came down to their level.Disappointing, but not the end of the world, and as far as I'm concerned it was a point gained today rather than two lost. |

Cov Alliance 3 Brinklow 9 : 1 Mount Nod Highway After a below par festive period, the players were reminded what was expected of them, and they duly delivered. Scoring goals has been our achilles heel in recent games,so Huddy and me decided to shuffle the pack a little and go for a tad more experience up front. We also decided to go back to basics defensively and all of the boys adjusted magnificently. Our gameplan was spot on and allowed Brinklow to wrap the points up in the first 15 mins. A fantastic all round team performance, resulting in good long periods of possession, plenty of width, quality crosses and lots of great goals. Well Done All!!! |

Brinklow 2:0 Woodlands Kaye J.A'Barrow If any game stood out as top vs bottom this was it.From the very first whistle we completely dominated this match. We were in total control in every department and it was only a matter of time before we secured the points.Woodlands had a game plan to frustrate us and hit us on the break with the long ball which really didn't threaten us,but to their credit they kept us at bay for the first half. Second half and with a few adjustments to personnel and our system we battered them, going close on many occassions before we finally scored through Ali Kayes inventiveness.James A'Barrow wrapped up the points with a stunning fee-kick mid-way through the second half, and for the remainder of the match we controlled the possession with some excellent keep ball football. It really was men against boys today from a very confident Brinklow side which proved once again that integration is certainly the way forward for our senior sides. Well Done all,you were a credit to Brinklow FC this afternoon, and still very much in the hunt. M.O.M - Mark Woodward, simply outstanding. |

Senior Section. I have been extremely fortunate to have had the opportuniy to have been involved with the senior section since October,on match days and of course training, but feel it neccesary to make my findings public as niether side can be promoted from their existing divisions. Both sides began the season well and if I'm honest both sides, giving themselves a fighting chance of promotion or better, however,I write this posting knowing full well that they will, both, remain as they are,at the beginning of next season. My findings, since October show me that within the two sides we have enough talent to move our club further, but not as two sides. We have enough talent which if amalgalated would challenge any prem alliance side but if it was to remain separated would trouble nobody and therefore not move our club forward. I therefore, plead with the club committee to run only one senior side next season and appoint a selection management team, who would work closely together, and create a realistic exit route for our existing junior players. The policy regarding team selection which we have in place at present is an absolute disgrace and nothing shy of embarassing, and if I'm brutally honest has held our great club back a whole season,in terms of senior development. This is an area of our clubs development which needs addressing immediately, because I for one would not want my son to be party to what is happening in the senior section at present!!! |
