Clap the Thunder
What a fantastic week of football !! Thunder have given a great account of themselves at two different academy tournaments. The first (and hardest) was at Birmingham where the boys put in a great performance to win the first game 2-0. They were then forced to watch two games before playing again which caught them cold and they went down to a disappointing 4-1 defeat to a team made up of Birmingham & Derby academy players. Playing again straight away saw another superb effort with the lads going down 1-0 to the tournament winners “Birmingham City Academy” no shame there and the general feeling was the boys were very unlucky not to get at least a draw. Goals on the night Jack with 2 and 1 from Finley Player of the tournament: Lewis Then the second tournament at Leicester saw us pitched against a team from Mansfield and one from Ibstock. The first game saw us draw 0-0 with Ibstock in a very close encounter, followed by a 3-0 win over Mansfield. The boys took a rest whilst these two teams battled out a goalless draw before the round robin started again. This time the lads beat Ibstock 1-0 inflicting this strong league team to their first defeat of the season, before going on and completing the double over Mansfield with a 2-1 win. Goals on the day Jack(2), Will(2), Finley and Jamie Player of the tournament: Charlie All the managers were extremely proud of the effort and attitude of the boys at these two very challenging events. We received plenty of praise from scouts at both academy’s for our teams magnificent performance. Well done everyone.

I would like to reiterate Steve’s comments on the latest academy games. We were invited to both tournaments and the lads’ behaviour and performance is a credit to the club. I received a text message straight after the Leicester City tournament inviting us back in the summer, as the scouts were impressed with the team's attitude, ability and performance. Thank you to all the parents for supporting and transporting the lads. Hope you all had a nice rest this morning. Back to training next Saturday, 10am as usual at the Revel.

A great way to end the Easter holiday with the boys travelling over to Aston Villa’s academy for a mini tournament. As with the previous tournaments the boys did not look out of place at all and were a credit to themselves and the club. The evening started with some mini 4 v 4 games with Brinklow winning 3 and drawing 1 of the encounters with Aston Villa and Ambleside. Moving on to the 7 a side games the lads put in a very solid 0-0 performance against Ambleside before going on to beat Aston Villa 2-1 in the Final game. Goals: Will and Jack Man of the tournament: Will Once again many congratulations to the boys some fantastic performances over the past couple of weeks
