Who was better at doing the scoring back in the day...
The scorers circa 1991.. Maureen *Very tidy handwriting, with an excellent use of both pen and pencil. * Calm and composed when under pressure. *100 percent concerntration at all times. * Excellent in communication with umpires. *Staunch fan of Liverpool at a time when there best players were Dean Saunders,Mike Marsh and Torben Piechnik. or... Alex * Complex use of coloured biro's,which although impressive at first glance, could prove disastrous if error was made. * Would flap ( sometimes resulting in tears of frustration) especially if one of the Slay brothers would start an impromptu game of cricket in eyeline of the scorebox. * Would break his scoring concerntration by singing/humming a song from that period ( Fine Young Cannibals, London Beat,Charles and Eddie). * Would accept bribes from umpires ( usually an illicit can of Coke or 7-up)in order to cover up any 7-ball overs. * Staunch Fan of Oxford United at a time when there best players were John Durnin, Alan Judge and Martin Foyle. |

For Alex to even be classed in the same league as Mrs Plested is a disgrace. This really does put a dampener on her glittering career and disrespaects everything she stood for in the scorers association. I think we should campaign to get her back |
