Lathan's Republican Post

Now that I know Lathan's motive in posting that 'Republican' bashing was to generate discussion on the Forum, I have compiled a response to that posting. What follows is Lathan's posting with each item having a counter response for 'Democrats'. I'll bet that his posting produced more responses from all of you than my posting will produce. Or as Mike Sawyer suggested, maybe we should run that 'floating logs' thing again. Hope you enjoy my rantings. I know I enjoyed trying to be humorous.

Things you have to believe to be a Republican today, followed by Things you have to believe to be a Democrat today:

* Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

Jesus doesn’t exist, so do whatever makes you feel good and vote for Hillary so she can do what is right for the homosexuals.

* Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

Trade with any country is great, no matter if we are giving away jobs in the manufacturing sector. Those other countries will come to our aid if things get tough.

* The United States should get out of the United Nations, but our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

The United States should go to the UN to solve all international problems, since the UN is so good at doing this. Unity among our allies is commonplace at the UN, and they have our best interests at heart in decisions they make.

* A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

A woman can be trusted to consider the well being of her child while it resides in her womb and so what if she decides to kill that child to make her life easier.

* The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches, while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

Our national leaders in Congress can criticize and protest the work of the military and their public outcry won’t hurt the morale of our troops, but rather make us stronger and raise our prestige in the rest of the world.

* If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

Giving condoms to children in school will keep them from having sex outside school, and it will make them realize that sex in school is ok, even if it is with a teacher.

* A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

A good way to fight terrorism is to put more trust in our long-time allies like France, a country that would love us if we stopped putting them down (just like the terrorists).

* Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy, but providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

Providing health care to all Americans is not socialism. It is merely coming to an understanding that ‘It takes a Village’.

* HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart, as do oil companies.

All companies that sell to the American public have absolutely no interest in sustaining their customer base, they can make money without the consumer.

* Global warming is junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

Global warming is absolutely true because Al Gore said so, and teaching anything about our creation in schools should be forbidden since there is no God.

* A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense, but a president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

Extramarital affairs by the President is expected and acceptable because most all (democrats at least) have done this and lying under oath is not a crime when it involves sexual misconduct. And even though it has been proven that nobody lied about WMD’s in Iraq, it is every democrat’s duty to continue to say the republicans lied.

* Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

Government should continue to insist that paying tribute to God in any form is against the intent of our founding fathers, and marriage should be allowed between any two or more beings (animals included) with mutual consent.

* The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

George Bush is not the only cowboy with presidential aspirations, and driving records are really important stuff.

* Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

If a radio talk host is conservative, he should be ridiculed at every opportunity and everyone should listen instead to Air America talk shows. Also, drug addiction is a good thing if it will get you a few democratic voters.

* What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960’s does not reflect on what he did in the 1990’s, it was all a ‘Right-Wing’ conspiracy, and Hillary did not know what Bill had done before he announced it to the rest of the world. In fact, she was a victim in all this and we should hold her in high regard for her ‘standing by her man’ attitude. Any woman who can get through all this deserves to be elected to the Presidency since she surely must have great credentials. We owe her.

Re: Lathan's Republican Post

Purvis,
I understand - and believe in - half of what is printed below. Unfortunately for some it begins with #1 and continues with all the odd-numbered posts, ie., #3, #5, #7, etc.

Re: Re: Lathan's Republican Post

Which means you are an 'Odd' guy, correct?

Re: Lathan's Republican Post

Well, I guess we've put an end to that. Ha Ha Ha, Nice piece of work Bob/Bettye or Bettye/Bob....wish I'd done it.

Re: Re: Lathan's Republican Post

And to think I was kind enough to let Horace in my motel room with a bunch of MVBs and we all listened courteously while he "Talked all nigh long" and hardly anyone else could get a word in edge-wise. Kinda wished I'd locked him out...

Re: Re: Re: Lathan's Republican Post

Now, Now, looks like we better retract our toes back inside our sandals afore someone gets his toes stepped on. Thought this was just friends sharing..... oh, well, so much for that. Thanks, Horace, for your kind remarks......

Re: Re: Re: Re: Lathan's Republican Post

Just jerking Horace's chain. I think someone did actually get a word in edge-wise that night. Let me think again...Nope! Can't think of anyone who did.

If Horace is like me, Sandals hurt his feet too much -they do mine. BTW, Horace is a big boy and he does a pretty good job of defending himself. He's one of the more eloquent speakers (writers) on this forum

Re: Lathan's Republican Post

Thanks Lathie, That's just about the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me. Now where're the tissues?
