Tom T. Hall bought a home in St. Augustine, Florida about 7 or 8 years ago. I met him at a Folk Festival and he said when every one retired it was mandatory they move to Florida.

I haven't heard that one about someone getting shot at Tom T's House. I do remember in the late 70s I was invited to a party in Memphis, Tennessee but had better sense than to go (really couldn't afford it). It was at Jerry Lee Lewis' house and Jerry Lee got drunk and shot one of his band members with a .357 Magnum Pistol and stuffed him in a closet. The band member lived but Jerry Lee got off because he was a "star" at the time and some of his band members made up a story that sounded so fishy I'm sure his house smelled like Tuna for months. I'm sure most of that story is true - at least some of it

The story I read yesterday said it happened over the weekend. They didn't give any names but I suspect that all of them in this case are pronouncable and none played football.

Songwriting is a tough sport. Not like 'sissy' football or ice hockey. Man - when you put them Superlatives on paper & start rhyming words...you'd better wear a Helmet and a Mouthpiece. I've got broken bones to prove it - and I still walk with a 'limp'.

I don't recommend Songwriting to the squemish or the faint-of-heart. Jimmy Holmes will attest to what I'm saying...

I don't take tests no more. Last year I got a truck driver license and a hazardous materials certificate and within a week I got fifteen job offers from people named Achmed.

Did they name any names in the story? Was that goofy guy they call Lathornius one of 'em?

No names, but he sure could have been, he qualifies...but I don't know if he still carries his .22 and his dog with him.

Country music is all about reality! Somebody had to get shot and they already had enough drunks to finish the song! Now comes the jail part. Watch for a mom to show up and beg the court for mercy.

Marty Robbins fished in a pond down the lane from the station while Carl Smith bailed hay on the other side of the highway. Always seemed like Marty had the better deal,but he didn't have Goldie Hill.

Marty was/is one of my all-time favorite singers and performers. He was only 5'3" tall but looked like a giant on stage.

Our son 'Hud' used to race Ronnie Robbins Cigar Boat on Percy Priest Lake in Hermitage, Tennessee - Ronnie is Marty's son - Ronnie's Mom wouldn't let him race the boat but our son was/is a Daredevil and won some trophys for Ronnie.

Those boats would capsize and it looked like a Triangle sticking out of the water when they sunk. After each race they'd pull three or four boats out of the water that had sunk

My favorite memory of Marty was in the Garage area of Talladega Super Speedway. He stood there flat-footed and performed "El Paso City" into my tape recorder..and like a fool,I don't have it anymore.

They still call you "Dummy Don," or is that just what you call yourself?
