Re: Top Twelve in Sports News for Today (...any day...pick a day...
About the only thing missing could be media comments from the coach:
1. This loss was my fault...I don't deserve the big
bucks I'm paid!
2. We'll take the win,but ,give the other team
credit,they gave it 110 per cent...maybe near
like 113.5 per cent..I'm not good at math.
3. We have a lot of young players,we'll
rebuild by next season. A new shipment of
steroids will be coming in any day now.
4 We just didn't play like a team tonight. We were
distracted, might have been the dancing babes on
the sidelines.
5. No,I won't do anything different in this
game. We'll just go out there and play
heads up football. Naw,last time we did
that,..............................
stadium lights blinded our receivers.
6. It's not about winning...it's trying to avoid
a gator aide bath at the end of the season.

C'mon now, Step-ins, you know the players themselves outclass coaches with their comments. Give us a rundown on some of those. You could start most of them with, "Um, y'know..."
"I mean..."
.......and be sure to put in "y'knowwhuttamean?" pretty often.
Re: Top Twelve in Sports News for Today (...any day...pick a day...
Cubby, did you ever hear the story about Clyde Swint and the athletic supporter? I hadn't thought of that in years until I went to my first Mignon Reunion, which he took charge of and ranted on for what seemed like two hours while I was talking to Joe Davis and we were laughing about somebody convincing Clyde that thing was a nose protector.
(Now I may not remember that exactly right, but after that two hours of irritation, I figure ol' Clyde deserves it, whether it was him or not! LOL)

Jimmy, I was at the reunion and found Clyde's comments very interesting. Now, I didn't grow up in the village and had not heard those stories.
Maybe it was the fact that He and June were so good to us when we were at Jax St.
Can't believe that a guy that started on a BBC HS football team didn't know what a jock strap was. Of course, I didn't hear what you were telling Joe Davis.
