BIBLE AND THEOLOGY FORUM

Welcome!  You are at BibleAndTheology.com, which is the general forum for BibleAndTheology.org.  Persons are invited to post on Bible and Theology (widely interpreted).  Some postings may be chosen to be reposted on BibleAndTheology.org.  Give & receive love here. If you post here, please do not use "Anonymous" or the like. Choose your own screen names, but do not use one that you know is already being used by someone else. Please:

1. You may debate with any ideas posted, but do not post objections to the topic, style, spelling, use of capital letters, or grammar of anyone's posting.  For example, you may debate whether the moon is made of green cheese, but kindly refrain from reviling a poster by telling him that it is politically incorrect to discuss green cheese.

2. Do not post complaints or attacks vs. other posters.

3. No obscene language, cuss words, or blasphemy may be used.

4. Send complaints privately by e-mail to NellPatKay@hotmail.com.  If your posting is deleted, it could be because it violates forum rules or is just chosen for a short run on the forum.

CHECK OUT THE search function, which is good: it checks the content of the postings.

Note that if you paste onto the Forum, for some reason Bravenet may change your quote marks and apostrophes into something else, like little boxes or funny U's.   Thanks for coming, participating, and for showing love .

ISRAEL IN THIS AGE

Prayer is very much in order for Israel. However, I don't expect them to stop suffering until they tragically sign an agreement with "the prince that shall come," an agreement to allow their to be a functioning Israeli temple on Mt. Moriah.

Daniel 9:24 ff:
"Seventy weeks [sevens] are determined upon thy [Daniel's] people and upon thy holy city [Jerusalem],

to finish the transgression, and
to make an end of sins, and
to make reconciliation for iniquity, and
to bring in everlasting righteousness, and
to seal up the vision and prophecy, and
to anoint the most Holy.

[ Items 1-3 were accomplished on the cross; however, items 4-6 are yet to be fulfilled. This necessitates a gap in the 70 sevens, which in fact took place after the 69tyh heptad; the 70th heptad not having begun yet.]

"Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: [7 + 62 = 69 heptads ]

"the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
And after 62 weeks [which follow the first 7] shall Messiah be cut off,

[We know when the Messiah was cut off; this took place at the cross, and it is delineated as after the first 69 heptads; yet before the 70th heptad; thus there is a gap, a gap in Israel's 70 heptads. During this gap, the Lord is gathering a new group called the Church.]

"but not for himself. And the people [Romans] of the prince that shall come [the Sea Beast of Revelation 13] shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

"And he [the Roman prince that shall come] shall confirm the covenant with many for one week, [the 70th heptad]

[Watch out for a Roman leader to make a covenant with Israel, which covenant allows the sacrifices to exist in the temple. This restarts the national clock for Israel.]

"and in the midst [after 3 1/2 years] of the week [70th heptad] he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

[This correlates well with the Olivet Discourse, Matthew 24 and parallels in Luke and Mark. The "Tribulation," per se, is that time of 3 1/2 years, last half of the 70th heptad, delineated in its beginning by the causing of the sacrifice to cease. Apparently what Matthew 24 calls "the Beginning of Birthpangs is that first half of the 70th week, in which there are "4 horsemen" of Revelation 6.]

Romans 9-11 also delineates the situation of Israel in the Church Age and Israel's future. There has been a partial hardening of Israelites, a hardening vs. their Messiah and the gospel. Nonetheless, some physical descendants of Jacob do trust the Lord Jesus as Savior and become true Jews and also a part of the Church.

It may be that the USA has had a delay in its judgment due to our support of Israel. The Land of Israel may be just a postage stamp, but the possession of that piece of real estate is coveted by many Islamics, who are also willing to die to have it. Israel shall have the land and the promises ultimately, but I see no easy time for Israel in the scripture -- yet woe to those who oppose Israel.

For the present, it is the role of Christians to seek the blessing of Israel in every way. And included in this is pointing out to those who will hear that the Lord Jesus is Himself a Jew and the Messiah of Israel.
