Fiat 128 3p

At long last I've started into restoration of this car, in dry storage since purchase in 1995. It's a nice project, 25k miles, mechanics and body relatively good. I've already repaired the rusty bonnet, doors, and tailgate about 5 years ago.

I got good advice through this site years ago, re fitting a Strada 5 speed gearbox. This was a qualified success, great to have a fifth gear, but the clutch never released properly. and the car went back into storage. Engine now out so I've the opportunity to sort this issue.

Anyone still on this site with the knowledge, or even any memory of what clutch or release bearing to use. I can hear the noise of the release bearing at all times so it's in constant contact with the clutch plate and no more adjustment available.

Re: Fiat 128 3p

hi ken, you have a noisy thrust bearing to start with, did you use the flywheel/clutch,/thrust bearing, from the strada? maybe the plate is worn?

Re: Fiat 128 3p

Thanks for the reply, I only bought the gearbox at the time so used the 3p flywheel and clutch. It would probably be difficult to locate a Strada flywheel etc now. Do you think that is the most likely solution?

I've dismantled two 5 speed Mk 1 Unos since, one a 1116cc, the other a 1301cc so might have bits from them, I wonder would they be similar in any way?
