Our panda electric boot handle began not working every time. It turms out that the switch is working all the time but the reason the boot wasn't opening was that the 2mm round steel pin that the handle pivots on had corroded slightly and so was stopping handle from moving.
The tip i would use would be to remove complete boot handle light assembly and invert it, put a little oil into the pivot pin and work it a few times until it moves freely and works the microswitch, then reassemble it all
