road tax,

good to read that the hike in road tax for large engine cars built 2001-2006 has been postponed till 2011 and is likely to be abandoned alltogether, changes from 2010-2011 would had car owners paying £450 per year. now the maximum rate will be £215 in
2009-10 and £245 in 2010-11. cars first registered before march 1 2001 will be taxed on engine capacity as it is now with a standard rate for over 1550cc and a lower rate for 1549cc or less.

Re: road tax,

Re: road tax,

Can you put a link up for where you read this please Mr Stig (aka James May I presume )

Re: road tax,

Hi John,

It's all in the pre-budget report - and what light reading it is too!!

This link should take you to the relevant document, but you have to scroll down a bit:

Re: road tax,

Cheers Gavin

So if I read that correctly, my Jeep Cherokee (03 plate) that emits half a ton of CO2 for every inch it travels, will cost £210 to tax next year and £245 up til the end of Feb 2010?

Happy days, someone might want to buy it off me now then.......
