Lowering a 128 3p

At long last i've started to work on my 3p.

These cars sit very high, is there an easy way to lower the suspension a few inches. I want to keep the car close to std. spec without major modifications?

Re: Lowering a 128 3p

I think the 128 has the usual transverse rear spring and strut type front.
Don`t know where your located, but if you remove the rear spring, one option is to have it de-cambered (flattened) by someone near who specialises in road springs. Brost Forge advertise in Classic mags Alternatively you could use longer bolts on the inner wishbone fixings using oversize nuts as spacers. if you look at the assembly drawings in your Haynes manual you`l see where to modify to lower the spring.
The front coil springs can be replaced with X19 springs. Demon Tweaks are a good starting point. Do, however, check the manual to select comparible spring rates. You could, of course, ask Brost Forge to modify your existing front coil springs.

Thanks, will try Demon Tweeks, there is an invoice along with the car from them for new struts and rear shocks, just before I bought the car in 1995!

I'm in Northern Ireland so will try the rear wishbone mods first.
