another 130 has come out of hiding, brooklands motor company of surrey, have bought this in, black, with black lealther seats, car was originaly silver as can be seen by the engine bay, was owned by a man in carlisle(no! not dave! mirafori man) mot`d for 12 months, needs a heater matrix, needs some other work doing WFE 101M, was asking £5,000,(!) but took the price off after a day, on www.carsandclassic.co.uk, ref no.C239767
For better or for worse I have bought this car, I have always loved the shape and although the body is pretty bad the rest is pretty good, it has black leather 2 owners and a fair interior so my journey comes full circle from my 127 1300gt the first car i ever owned.
Any help and support from other 130 owners greatly appreciated, I will be joining the club today.
Well done! i have had a few, 130,s even driven one to Italy (oh the petrol bill took ages to clear) and have a 130 (2.8) saloon for the time being! i have a tame garage, but not good for were you are, as its in Cudham Kent, they have looked after my 130,s for a long time! rgs Neil

and, I own the coupe now, oh! the trails, and tribulations you had.(plus the wedding propolsal) getting there and back!
Thanks everyone, I collected a second diff and other parts on Wednesday and it is now with a chap who is going to rebuild it so I can at least drive it before the winter sets in, then I am hoping to send it for a complete bodywork restoration.
In the meantime a few things I could do with help on, fuel lines, why do they need to be braided?
Seals for the side windows do not look up to much which is probably why so much work has been done to the doors, any ideas on replacements?
Stupid question maybe, i am presuming the previous owner has done some conversion work for it to run on unleaded, anyway of knowing?
Also I have a second hand heater matrix, isit even worth trying to get the air con working, all help greatly appreciated.
Congratulations on your new purchase. Good luck with your restoration.
re unleaded - I would expect the previous owner used a fuel additive. There's a few to choose from.
Seals - Mine seem to be OK except in a big downpour. I discussed seals for side windows with a guy who used to sell 130's and he told me they were never up to much, hence the need to make sure drain holes in the cills are not obstructed and make sure you waxoyl inside the panels.
Heater matrix is a dashboard out job. My 130 has aircon and I have discussed recharging it with a few people and was told the gas is no longer available and the new gas destroys the seals. You may have more luck?
I would have thought there are still selected specialists who would still re-charge the old-fashioned air -con units.I'm under the belief they have to apply for a special license to do so, but I'm sure they are still around. Look at the air -con for old Jag XJ's and so on. The Italian car specialist ,Trentside Garage in Scunthorpe with Mal Nicholson was one such candidate.
Whether it's all been fazed out now with "elfin safety" and all that crap ,I wouldn't know.
Well I collected her today after the diff and brakes were sorted and we had a lovely 2 hour jaunt home to get aquainted, unfortunately no AC and broken elec windows made for a warm cockpit but never the less had a blast.
I am going to need a lot of help guys there is a lot to be done.
well done pete, hope you enjoyed the drive home, does seem we all have a problem with electric windows, might be electrics, or the channels need silcone spray, hope it goes ok, will reply when on here,
After a closer examination and thorough read of the manual, I am pretty up to speed on all the knobs and buttons!
I am missing a few bits and I have a few mysteries if anyone can help?
There's a gaping hole in the centre console, the manual says it was for what I presume was a fader knob for the stereo, thats number one on the list, it seems to have had the ash tray deleted at some point and it has a bit of trim over the whole.
There's a rubber gromit in a small hole next to the gear selector, having a look on youtube I've seen some footage of a car with a switch in this whole but mine is missing?
The first job is to try and get the windows sorted along with the handbrake cable which is incorrctly fitted, the stereo needs to go it doesn't work and it looks far too modern, but the plate is missing, anyone.
Then it's a thorough service, belts, filters, fluids and plugs.
I'll try and get some pictures up or at least a link to some, beware though, I think the respray was done by Stevie Wonders Bodyshop!
need a fader, the groment hole was not a standard, might have been a by-pass switch for the rad fan, seems the ash tray cover has been covered up, there is a cig lighter socket in there, hope you sort the handbrake cable, when was the cambelt last changed? J.B.S spares manchester, 0161 688 8391 has a cambelt
the factory put braided covered pipes on, last well, the plastic ones on your car go hard,(yellowed) some were taken off a lancester by a owner who put one on the floor, hit it with a hammer and......shattered like glass! (oh dear!), i bought some from motorworld, but has seen them on ebay in metre lenghs,,look at them and beware!
you may get pulled up about the numberplates, if a car is registerd after jan 73, they have to be the reflective type,
