Good question about is the FMC slowly dying.

Yes the Fiat Forum is very active. I've personally over 2700 posts on that forum.

I have a thread somewhere in the members only area of this FMC forum about just what you ask.

I can't comment as I'm not close enough to the club committee but I believe you will also find that Fiat's UK input (financial or remember the Fiat hospitality etc) have long since gone.

If Auto Italia at Brooklands is anything to go by then it is only Abarth (Fiat) that seem to have any presence or input. Nothing for Fiat or Alfa and Lancia is long since dead. Would be interesting if/how much Fiat are funding the Abarth club?

Could be that Fiat UK are looking some return on investment and focussing on "Enthusiast" type sales. Hence the Abarth support. Alfa sales (whilst Fiat claim Alfa is there luxury, sporting, prestigious brand/market) are just probably too low and stock Fiat car sales don't count anymore with respect to "enthusiast" and thus likewise not worth the investment.

All in all not just one of this type of stuff will kill off a motor club but the overall net effect is that everything gets dampened down, members become less interested/enthusiastic and thus overall participation slowly but surely falls off creeping ever closer to potential extinction.

For all we know the current FMC Officials are thinking long and hard about is their time and personal effort just worth it anymore.

Poor Gill (e.g.) struggles to get input for Parliamo. Some of us have contributed input but we can't be expected to be regular writers unless we have a "column" (like the editor does). And then there is the possibility that some members will think Joe Bloggs is trying to take over the magazine and sing his own song every month/quarter.

As for the members only forum section the password is still that of the Spring Parliamo despite a new password being given in the Summer Edition some many weeks ago. And when you do look there you will see the last post (by me) (excluding the Insurance advertising) is dated 20 Dec 2014!!!!!

Kind of sums it all up really.

I guess we are all guilty in some small ways or another. I didn`t renew my membership because the Parliamo got a little tedious regarding activities; which amounted to weather reports, attendance figures and descriptions of locations. In addition the forum was getting less and less attention.

It could be said that maybe I should have pulled my finger out and done more than the little I did. but then that would apply to other members at that time....what was the total membership?

When I first joined, Parliamo was this lovely warm cuddly A5 size edition, which felt far more personal than the bright coloured A4. Which never seemed to get the advertising, or interesting membership scribblings that the original enjoyed..........Perhaps this was the beginning of the end;

I have removed the orange coloured bumper inserts and called at my local auto paint shop to get a match. The inserts have a few marks and also, because of the primer being exposed on the roof; I thought I`d also spray the roof with the bumper insert orange.....I think it will look quite smart.
