Back on top; Central Mountain with their win Wednesday over Hollidaysburg the Central Mountain Wrestling team has been crowned as Big 7 champions. CM has won the title 11 out of the last 12 years. BEA ended CM's run of 10 straight last year. The CM Jr.high wrestling team finished another undefeated dual meet season. Next up CM will try for a 3-peat in the Distric 6 AAA team championships at Altoona 2/23/2019. CM also are champions of the Heartland Conf.
Hey Wildcat Nation -
Thanks for the update. Couldn't wait to hear how CM won another Big 7 title or another Heartland Conference title. The reality is until CM competes in a tougher and more competitive conference, then they will never be able to compete at the state level. Beating up Selingsgrove, Jersey Shore (five forfeits), Milton (62-3), and Shamokin (four forfeits) won't win you too many matches at the state duals. Every match matters and with that schedule it won't even allow you to beat Mifflin County at District Duals. So continue to brag about beating up on these smaller schools with way less enrollment from the Heartland and the Big 7 in rural central PA, but until Central Mountain challenges themselves every match, they won't compete at the next level. Thanks for the update.
Many valid points in this post. Congrats on dominating the Big 7. Amazing the Big 7 champs have not got past the D6AAA dual semis now for several years thanks to the not even full strength lineup of the MC SLED DAWGS.
Take a real close look at the way NWAAA is shaping up. Prep, McDowell and DuBois will have the most power. But when it comes to PIAA qualifiers, CM has a truly excellent shot at getting ZERO to Hershey. Amazing but Johnstown and CM might be the most likely D6AAA teams to not have a single state qualifier. Juniata might even have one and the other five teams should each have one or more. But will CM have ANY? If so, at what weights? Check whose coming in from D4/9 and D10 before you make any Hershey reservations.
Big d-6 fan-----Cm joined the Heartland Con because most teams in the Mountain Leauge did not want to compete against CM esp. football. I could not understand that at all because of CM's poor record in that sport. To join the HC they had to for all sports, including wrestling. yes you do got a very good point, CM needs to get the Heck out of that Conf. Miff County proved that the last two years at the Distric duals. MC wrestles a much tougher schedual. I didn't mean to brag, Just proud of our boys for what they have done. It's not the boys's fault that our AD put them in the HC. I do think the Big 7 Con. is a lot better com. with the likes of BEA, Bellefonte, Shick and JS. Yes JS is down the last two years but all in all they usually are not to shabby.
I think coach Biff W. knows what need to be done at CM if we want to keep up with Miff Co.and I really do think State College is on the rise.
Not sure what u are looking at when u look at cm they will take at least 6 to states this year
Ummm we do wrestle harder competition. We lost 1 point to Dallastown who made it to the quarters at states. We beat Cumberland valley. Tell me again how easy out competition is
Hey Wildcat Nation and D6 Wrestler -
I apologize if my remarks came off the wrong way or sounded harsh. Nothing wrong with being proud of your accomplishments and the season that you had. Unfortunately it is a case of what could have been. Central Mountain has a solid dual meet team and it showed with a win over Cumberland Valley and a criteria loss against Dallastown. Unfortunately I do think that a weak Heartland Conference schedule doesn't help them. Imagine getting in the Mid Penn Conference like Altoona, State College, and Mifflin County does. It would be a farther distance to travel for away dual meets but you could test yourself against the likes of Central Dauphin, Cumberland Valley, Chambersburg, Lower Dauphin, Mechanicsburg, and more. This would be instead of the likes of Selingsgrove (58-15), Jersey Shore (62-12 with 5 forfeits), Milton (62-3 with 2 forfeits), Shamokin (67-9 with 4 forfeits), and York (67-9 with 2 forfeits). Just some food for thought.
You also have to look at it for the other sports. Alot of confs want all your sports teams in or none. Yes wrestling would be better off in a tougher conf but all other sports will not be.
