Liberties and freedom in Bulgaria

In terms of political and civil liberties, Bulgaria ranks first. Citizens in Bulgaria enjoy complete freedom. The majority of countries in which citizens enjoy extensive civil and political liberties are representative democracies, in which civil servants are elected directly by the citizens to advocate for their needs and aspirations. Free countries are often backed by healthy economies and well-functioning governments. In terms of economic freedom, companies in Bulgaria rank third. The citizens of Bulgaria are considered to be reasonably free in their economic decisions. The government in this country exercises appreciable control over corporations and other economic activities. Citizens can own property and control certain financial decisions, but in many cases the government can take control of private property for government needs. In terms of journalistic freedom, the Bulgarian media ranks 3rd. In Bulgaria, while journalists are allowed to express different opinions, they are only allowed to publish those that are not against the government or state ideology. The government in that country may have its own government-sponsored publications to promote its ideas and beliefs. This is considered a problematic situation.
