u10's 2011/12

Please post any information for the u10's in this thread.

Club: Brinklow FC

Re: u10's 2011/12

Well done boys for last Saturdays tournament win, a nice way to end the U9s age group. If the boys can have half as much success at U10's it will be another fantastic season.

Re: u10's 2011/12

With pre season training about to start, I'd like to put on here in the hope other club managers read it that we would be interested in friendlies, both 7 a side, U10s and 11 a side games against 11s. Please get in contact with me, Wayne.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Well done boys last night in their first 11 a side game after joining up with Scotts u11s. By all accounts a good display by all and got amongst the goals.

Re: u10's 2011/12

The U10s are playing the u11s Tues at Barr lane 6.30pm ko. Aanother chance for both sets of players to gain more experience at the 11 a side game but especially for Scotts boys who are heading into their first season at 11 a side.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Two big thankyou's, firstly to Scott and his boys for the game tonight, and secondly to Pete and his boys from Massey Ferguson, that came to make up the numbers to enable us to play 11 a side.
I for one thoroughly enjoyed watching the boys play in a proper match and Im sure every player on the pitch gained some benefit from the match. But from a club point of view I hope Scotts team gets the most benefit from the game as obviously they are heading into their first season of 11 a side.
From our point of view the experience gained is invaluable and we hope to play more full size games during the season.
Thanks again to all and well done to all the boys Yellow and Blue and for tonight, Red and White Army!!

Re: u10's 2011/12

The boys entertain Aylestone Park tomorrow night at Barr Lane 6.30 ko(if not alittle earlier).
Come and have a watch!

Re: u10's 2011/12

Thanks to Rich and his Aylestone Park U10s team for travelling over to play us in what was our first 7 a side game and didnt it show. The visitors were big and strong and played to their strengths and we found it hard to break them down on a small pitch which didnt either team any favours, but when we did get through we found a fantastic keeper who in my opinion took MOM, not just for his shot stopping but his reading of the game and distribution. They put us under pressure with some lovely moves especially their left winger, who could play.
All in all a fair result and it beats training!
We wish Rich and his boys all the very best for the forthcoming season and hope we can establish a long and lasting relationship with them and hope we can return the fixture and enter each others six a sides etc.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Cov Jag were the visitors in our last game before the season starts and and enabled the boys to try out our new pitch at the Revel.
Playing three 20 mins games gave us a chance to try new things and give all the boys a good run out. keeping a clean sheet is always pleasing with new signing Millsy getting on the score sheet aswell. Still a little bit away from where we would like to be but going in the right direction with alot of focus on building for 11 a side.
Well done boys, getting there.

Re: u10's 2011/12

First league game today and on the wrong end of the scoreline. 2.0 down in ten minutes and it looked like the boys hadn't seen a ball or met each other before. Credit Masseys they took an early grip and turned their pressure into goals. Gradually the boys started to get into the game and created opportunities but failing to convert them into chances. Second half was a different game altogether. Shot count in our favour, posession in our favour but due to an inspired Massey keeper the boys couldnt find a way through. Having pushed forward the boys were undone by a neat pass and found themselves 3 down. they battled on n a hand ball presented a chance which Jack slotted home. More pressure, more shots, more saves, near misses until Todds low drive bulged the net, could the comback be completed? No, the time beat us on this occassion but 5 minutes more, who knows, but alot of positives could be taken from the game and the defeat may be a blessing in disguise, in more ways than one.

The rest of the entertainment is not welcome but dealt with and our my appologies to Pete and his team/club.

Yellow n Blue Army!

Re: u10's 2011/12

First home match and first home win of the season beating Coundon Court 1-0 with a Todd Loveitt converting a free kick. The scoreline doesnt really tell the story of the game. Although far from their best the boys had the majority of the game played in the oppositions half with the away team being defensive with the odd break out not causing to many problems for Robbie in goal. Full credit to my boys as they fully deserved the win and the 3 points.
Hopefully we can get back to somewhere near where we know they can play very soon. Next week a local derby in the cup vs Binley Woods away.

Re: u10's 2011/12

The boys got the better in th elocal derby cup match with Binley Woods running out winners 6-0. Brinklow struggled in the early minutes as space hard to come by on the small pitch but once John netted the first of his two and Callum adding to the scoreline the boys took full control. Millsy scoring his first official goal for the club and Ben Gregory notching two lovely headers added to the total. Amongst all the goals Robbie saved a penalty to keep his second clean sheet in as many games. The boys through to the next round.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Chetwynd 2 Brinklow 0

After the highs of last season, this season is starting to feel like its going to be a long one. Chetwynd were good for the win but it would have been nice if we gave them some resistance. We havent been at our best since the start but were creating chances but today we didnt even do that, which is worrying. I wish there was a crystal ball to tell me why we have dipped in form but there isnt. There was no energy, enthusiasm, desire on display except from our hosts. Well done to them and back to the drawing board for us!!

Re: u10's 2011/12 crystal ball

I think we need to go back to basics, we have stopped passing throughout the whole team. No composure when we have the ball also think we need to start finding positions for players and keeping them there and bring them on in their positions. Your right we did not deserve anything, we have to work harder than we did. We need to earn the right to be able to play rather than just think we can turn up. I am sure we can turn it around with hard work and your coaching.

Re: u10's 2011/12 crystal ball

Brinklow 2 Stratford Town 1

What a difference a week makes in football. I think last week was a wake up call for all involved and my did it work, the football played by today was the best iv seen them play for a long, long while. The boys turned up ready to play today and the warm-up was focused and precise. Straight from the off the boys were at them and the passing and movement was a joy to watch. Jack opened the scoring and Callum added the second. A slight lapse in concentration could of let the visitors back in just on half time but Robbie grasped the ball to evade the danger. The second half was a little different with Stratfords long ball tactics being assisted by the wind but Brinklow still playing the football but could not add to the total and with Stratford getting their goal a little panic crept in but with no real efforts on goal Brinklow took a well deserved win and in fairness was more comfortable than the score suggests.

Septembers Player of the Month : Todd Loveitt

Re: u10's 2011/12 crystal ball

My tip for the title at the start of the season, Leamington Hibs were the visitors today and a tight affair ensued. Alot of the game was played in the middle 1/3 in the first half with niether keeper being called into action and if they were it was long range efforts. The second half much the same but Brinklow getting more teritorial in their opponents half but were being kept at bay from Hibs outstanding defender with 11 on his back. The game had a draw all over it and noone could have complained but Hibd made a break and squeezed a shot past Rob and the deadlock was broken. I dont know if it was the goal or the goalscorers comments that sprung Brinklow into life but whichever it worked. The determination was back and the willingness to chase and harry the opposition was rewarded with Todds shot finding the net and Brinklow could sniff the win. With time running out Ben Gregory hassled the ball past two defenders setting Callum up to confidently dispatch the winner. Great character shown by the boys to come back against such a good team and take the three points. As i said noone would have complained if it had ended in a draw but thats football and after our indifferent start to the season, we will take it when it comes.
Well done all the players on the pitch today a good advert for junior football.

Re: u10's 2011/12 crystal ball

After a week off, Christ the king were the opposition this morning in another home game. A decent performance from the boys gave them their biggest win of the season with a 7.0 scoreline. Callum with a composed treble, Jack notched a brace with singles from Todd and John. Well done boys keep it going.

Re: u10's 2011/12 crystal ball

Brinklow kept their interest in the cup with a 1.0 away to Hibs in the tie of the round. One of the few pieces of football in the game enabled Callum to score the decisive goal mid way through the first half. Another great piece of football in the second half between John and Callum resulted in Francis smacking the ball against the post, but Hibs breakaways never really troubling Rob in the sticks except with minutes to go he was adjudged to have picked the ball up outside the box but the wall did its job from the resulting free kick and the boys seen the game out. Typical cup tie by two good sides, well done all.

Re: u10's 2011/12 crystal ball

Another journey to Leamington, this time to face Brakes and an entertaining game ensued. A bit of squad rotation was enforced and the start was very scrappy with no team settling down. The home team started to play some nice football but never really troubled our goal and some good graft in midfield by Connor sent Callum away to cooly slot home. Brakes pushed Brinklow back and forced an equaliser which from our point of view could have been dealt with aliitle better but Johns length of the pitch run, speeding past half their team and shooting home had the boys infront at the break. The second half was completely different with the boys finding an extra gear or so and should have improved on the scoreline more than they did but Todds burst through the center bypassing several tackles and with the keeper half saving his shot Callum was on hand to make sure it crossed the line to complete the scoring and securing a good win where im sure Brakes wont lose many.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Brinklow recorded a 5-1 victory over near neighbours Cov Copsewood. It really was a joy to watch the boys perform today as some of their play was outstanding. Callum got the ball rolling finishing off a good move before Connor added a second with a long range effort which John matched moments later again after a good move. Connor finished off a back to front flowing move to send the boys in 4 up at the break. John had his shooting boots on and drilled a low shot in to add to the score before an unfortunate Ben G clearance hit Luke and fell nicely for their forward to run through and finish. The post and goal line clearances stopped the boys from increasing the score. Well done boys keep it going!

Re: u10's 2011/12

The boys continued their good run of form with a 3-1 away win at title challengers Cov Sphinx. The boys were on it from the off today and their hunger to win was evident as they were first to everything and never gave Sphinx the time on the ball to play their passing game which they can hurt you with. Todds thrust down the right with a lobbed pass over to Callum who scored one of the hardest goals to score, ball over the shoulder volley and into a deserved lead. Connor again lobbed over for Callum to score, this time lobbing their out rushing keeper. Several scrambles in the Sphinx box amounted to nothing and chances not being taken was the pattern. Robbie in goals untroubled. Luke smashed the ball home from a half cleared corner to make it 3-0 at half time and should have been more. The talk at half time was to see the game through. Changes around the park unbalanced our play and the game turned into a messy affair with no team really looking likely to score. A bit of hesitancy around our box enabled their impressive number 9 to slot home towards the end but a pleasing and deserved result, full credit to the boys, keeps the momentum rolling.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Brinklow continued their good run of form but for the first part of the game it looked like it was going to be one of those days with Copsewood's keeper in fine form stopping everything that come at him. Todd found the breakthrough, volleying home after a corner was half cleared and this sent the boys into the break a goal to the good. The second wasnt long in coming after good through ball by Connor sent Todd away down the wing who crossed for Francis to steer home, his first goal for us well done Franny! John went on one of his long runs setting the ball through for Callum to flick on for Millsy to finish off into the empty net. Not the free flowing football of the last few weeks but on a sticky, tricky pitch a disciplined, professional display well done boys keep it up!

November Player of Month: Callum Williams

Re: u10's 2011/12

The under 10s played their last game of the year and finished it with a 2-0 win over Cov Sphinx. The pitch was in good order and helped as there was two good passing sides on display.
Brinklow for once started slowly and couldnt find any rythm but give credit to Sphinx ads they were well up for it and bang at it from the ko.Chances were few and far between in the opening exchanges but Robbie pulled of a geat save midway through the half to deny the visitors the lead and the teams went in level at the break. Acouple of tweaks during the interval from Brinklow and the boys were getting into the game more and a half cleared corner saw Todd bundled in the back to allow Jack to step up and drive a free kick home. robbie largely untroubled in goal as the boys set about getting a second, Connor, Callum and Francis all going close before the ref blew for full time. He made a mistake as there was still 4 minutes left, new watch from Santa i think! The game continued, Was this going to benefit the visitors as they still had a chance to gain something from the game or would the boys be able to again gain victory?? A lovely move down the right and Callum crossed for Connor to control and bury the ball to see the boys home. It then looked like the boys would go on to score again with Todd and Callum going close but 2 was enough to take the three points. A good game of football with all the boys giving everything on a windy winters day.
See you all Thursday for the last training session and rumour has it Santa has has been early!! Then saturday at Sector 7 3.00pm start

Merry Christmas to All from Brinklow U10s

Re: u10's 2011/12

Inter club game U10s vs U11s

Played today at Wolston's Astro Pitch and although the weather was dire, both teams played exceptionally well with some great football played and fantastic goals scored.
Thanks to Scott and his boys for coming to play us and to the boys who came to play for us to make up the numbers, hope you enjoyed yourselves.

Happy New Year to all!

Re: u10's 2011/12

The first game in a run of 5 away games had Brinklow travel to Coundon Court. A long break in the fixture list could have upset the boys good run of form but the added bonus of our kick about with the U11s and a good training session under their belts the boys put in a good display and came away with a convincing 4-0 scoreline. A little slow to begin with the boys soon took control of the game. Johns run and shot started it off before Callum's lovely finish added a second. Callum added the third before John completed his brace and the scoring. Chances came and went and Robbie in goal was mainly a spectator and another clean sheet was kept. Well done boys enjoyed watching you today (as always), keep it up.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Long trip away to Stratford today and left with the three points.
Not the best game we have played this season but Startford always make it hard for you and with the wind and bobbly pitch the boys did enough.
Jack broke the deadlock chasing the defender down and dribbling into the box slotting home near post.
Callum grabbed a rebound after Todds drive and shot was parred.
The scoring was ended after Johns pass released Gregs whose cross/shot was finished off by Franny.
Good enough, is good enough!

Re: u10's 2011/12

A away trip to Leamington Hibs today in a top of the table clash.
All the boys looked up for it in the warm up although a little cold, I wasnt though in my lovely new managers jacket!
Up the hill in the first half with a slight tweak to the team which to be honest didnt really work but going back to the familier look did work, because within minutes, Callum was sent through and cooly slotted past the keeper. Hibs gained some pressure towards half time but Robbie was largely untroubled. Francis came on up front and his holding up play was excellent, linking with the midfield and saw his curler hitting the post. Francis then went onto earn a penalty, quick feet left the defender who pulled him down. Jack smashed the ball home. The game ended 2-0 and everyone to a man played their part to secure another clean sheet and a good win.
We move on to the next game, cup match away, Leamington Thistles.
See you at training Thurs

Re: u10's 2011/12

Leamington Brakes were the visitors this morning and as our last encounter with them was a tough one we knew we had to be on form to get a result.
The boys were at it from the start and Brakes formation only encouraged Brinklow to attack and attack they did. The scoring was opened by an OG after good work and low cross by Callum was turned in by the unfortunate defender accredited to Callum. Connor added a second, finishing off a good move before Todd and Jack both converted long range efforts to send the boys in 4 to the good at half time. A Disjointed second half ensued before Brakes grabbed their solitary goal, finished lovely by their impressive left winger after sloppy play by the home side giving away posession.
That spurred the boys back into action and after a couple of missed chances Todd smashed in a rebound before the same player found Callum to slot home and finish off the scoring.
A decent performance from the boys, well done to all.
Another go at the twice postponed cup match next week at Leam Hibs Thistles.
See you at training.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Brinklow progressed to the 1/4 stage of the cup with a 7-0 away win over Leamington Hibs Thistles. Goals coming from Todd 3, Callum 2, Luke and Gregs.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Brinklow made it through to the semi finals after a good display in very poor, cold conditions today, beating Coundon Court 9.0.
Goals from Todd 2, Jack 2, Millsy 2, Francis 2 and a single from Gregs.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Brinklow finished off their League away program with a 3-1 victory over Christ The King. The boys were not at their best today but played good football in spells and where the better team who deserved the win, Well done boys!
Overall created numerous chances but lacked composure at certain times and finding the hosts keeper in fine form too but 3 points is all you can get from a game and 3 points it was.
Goals by John, Callum and Connor made the difference. Looking forward to training Thursday!!

Re: u10's 2011/12

Our penultimate league game and we faced Massey Ferguson, one of only two teams to have defeated us this season so no motivation needed for the boys.

It was a game the boys dominated from start to finish but for once the finishing deserted us and had to make do with just a solitary goal from Callum to seal a thoroughly deserved three points. Again we found the opposition keeper in inspired form, added to the fact our shooting wasnt the best. The pleasing thing though was that we kept making the chances and didnt let frustration take over, sometimes its just wont go in!

Next game is the Semi Final against the same opponents, hopefully saved the goals for that one!
Well done boys, proud of you all!!

Re: u10's 2011/12

Its been a tense couple of days but finally the wait is over.
We were 95% sure that the boys had made it over the line after their victory over Masseys on Sunday but wanted TO and waited for the league to confirm the fact and that wait was longer than expected but now although the tables have not been updated, the league websites home and honours page state that Brinklow u10s are the "A" League Champions so now I can announce it,

Brinklow FC u10s "A" League Champions 2011/12!!!

The boys have been superb and deserve all the praise that should come their way.
Winning the league is hard enough but to retain it, when you are there to be shot at, is an outstanding achievement and I for one am a very, very proud manager, as are, Im sure, the boys parents are immensely proud too.
Everyone who has taken the time to watch and support the boys we thankyou, Im sure you have enjoyed watching.

Champions! Champions! Champions! Champions!

And now we turn our attentions to the cup and hope we can go one better than last season.

Re: u10's 2011/12 Champions!!!!

Congratulations to you all!

This is all the more impressive following your indifferent start.

Now the league is out of the way, you can firmly concentrate on the Cup and achieving the elusive Double.

Well done from us all in the Under 9s.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Congratulations to Wayne and all the U10's on a fantastic season - *Champions 2011-2012* Well Done

Bob & Marie- Seniors Reserves

Re: u10's 2011/12

The boys progressed to their second successive cup final after defeating Massey Ferguson 2-0 this morning.
After a good start Brinklow hit the post and bar and again found the opposition keeper in fine form and it was starting to look like it was going to be one of those games, until Callum held play up well and sent John through who fired home.
Robbie pulled of a good one on one save to deny an equaliser.
The second half followed the same pattern but Brinklow just couldnt convert their chances and with the opposition looking to counter attack with the long ball the game was still in the balance. A couple of good passes released John down the wing whos cross found Millsy at the back post who made it 2-0. Chances to increase the scoreline where not taken but 2 proved enough and the boys, as last year, are on for the double, lets hope they can do it this time.
Well done boys, thoroughly deserve to be where you are,
Yellow n Blue Army!!

Re: u10's 2011/12

Brinklow rounded off their league campaign with a 1-0 win over Chetwynd.
Chetwynd, one of only two teams to have got the better of Brinklow during the season to date, were well up for it, who isnt when playing the Champions???

Not the best performance of the season but one good enough for the three points. The boys seemed to have mastered the art of winning when not at their best, sign of a good team as they say.

In the first half, unfortunately the wrong decision was being made at times together with the visitors energetic start but Rob was only called upon once and by midway we were getting a foot hold.
The second half was mainly played in our oppositions half with the odd counter attack being made against us but our goal untroubled.
The problem was we couldnt get that goal??
Oh yes we could and after Callum hit the bar and Francis effort well saved, step up John.
A corner floated in and half cleared only for John facing one way, volleyed back accross goal and in off the far post. A goal worthy of winning any match and fully deserved by him too.
And so the boys took the three points and kept their undefeated home record in tact, Brilliant!
Well done boys a deserved win and a great goal to cap a fantastic league campaign.

Thanks to Paul, Whiff and Dale from the Seniors 1st team for coming to present the Champions Shield and trophies to the boys.

A couple of friendlies arranged in preparation for the Cup Final on May 12, 12.15pm KO, Bedworth Oval.

Yellow and Blue Army!

Re: u10's 2011/12

With the season finished and the cup final looming I arranged a couple of games to keep the boys ticking over, and today we entertained Aylestone Park.
We had a pre season game way back in August and the honours ended even so this is the type of games we wanted to play.
It was a good game to watch with nice football being played by both teams with both keepers involved. Johns neat volley and Todds low drive were the games only goals. Robbie made some good saves to deny the opposition a deserved goal.
Look forward to continuing our relatinship with Aylestone and playing them again, next time it will no doubt be a different format.
Good luck to them for the future.
Well done all!

Re: u10's 2011/12

A Double Anyone?
Oh yes I think we will.

The double evaded the boys last after winning the league but losing the final, this season no such mistake was made running out 4.0 winners over Stratford Town.
The boys were in command of the game from the first whistle and went close with Callum hitting the post. Further near misses with the opposition keeper saving with his legs followed and it looked like it was going to be one of those days until a half cleared ball fell to Connor who drive nicked of a defender into the bottom corner. Francis made the keeper work and Callum just couldnt find the touch to Todds cross and the boys went in 1.0 up.
The game was a little disjointed after the break but John won the ball and fed Connor who drove forward and slid the ball to Francis, his swivelled shot beat the out rushing keeper to double the lead. Robbie made a good save and the rebound wasnt taken before Johns surge down the right and far post cross to Gregs who improvised using his midrift to make it 3.0. John, having fun down the right, again crossed and Callum met it sweetly only to hit the post but minutes later Callum released John whose strike gave the keeper no chance. Jack went close a couple of times, once after a lengthy run and Todd made the keeper pull of a wonder save.
The whistle blew and the double was clinched.
This extended their winning run to 21 games in what was their last 7 a side outing.

The boys thoroughly deserved their success again this year and have been a credit to themselves, their parents, their managers and their club.
What a Fantastic achievement, EVERYONE should be immensely proud of this team, I know I am!

Many Congratulations to Wayne and all of the U10's on your fantastic win in the League Cup Final, much deserved and a great game to watch - Well done everyone

Re: u10's 2011/12

The boys have a 9v9 game sunday morning away to Coventrians if anyone is at a loose end and wants to watch a game. CV6 4AH, 11AM KO.

Re: u10's 2011/12

The boys played their first and the clubs first ever 9v9 game in a friendly away to Coventrians.
With only 5 of the current squad available and 3 starting, it was a great opportunity to have a good luck at the new players who are interested in joining for next season.
The hosts were on it from the start and as Brinklow struggled to get going, deservedly went infront. Alittle wake up call and Callum drew Brinklow level with a reverse low drive before Harvey added a brace with two good strikes. Coventrians reduced the deficit just on half time.
John hit an accomplished second half treble with Harvey completing his with Cameron getting in on the act. A mix up led to their third somewhere within all that.
A decent performance considering the unfamiliararity and changes throughout.
Its given plenty food for thought.
Well done all.

Re: u10's 2011/12

Now that there is no footy on th tele I can write a belated report on the Beaumont Town 9v9 tournament that we entered last weekend.
It was nice to travel and play some different teams from the leicester area and even one from Crewe.
The boys were at it from the off which was pleasing considering nearly a two hour wait since arriving. The boys progressed through the 5 team group as winners and into the 1/4s which they won on pens, a first for us. The Semi final had us up against the hosts and progressed to the final meeting and beating Groby to lift the cup and without conceding a goal.
A good experience although a very long day!
Well done boys a good warm up for the big one!
