Just a friendly reminder. This Thursday, November 9 during the General Membership Meeting nominations for Officers will take place. If you are interested in running for office please try to attend. You must be present to accept a nomination, if you are nominated from the floor. If you are interested in running and unable to attend please give a letter stating your intentions to any member of the Election Committee that being any PC or Blue Gavel member. See information below for eligibility.

Article 7, Section 8

The Nominating/Election Committee shall consist of the Past Commodores of Swan Boat Club,
and shall exclude a Past Commodore running for elected office in any current election. It shall be
their duty to select at least one (1), but not more than two (2) candidates for the office of
Commodore, Vice-Commodore, Rear-Commodore, Secretary and Treasurer; and at least two (2)
but not more than four (4) candidates for Directors; and at least one (1) but not more than two (2)
candidates for Dock master; and at least two (2) but not more than four (4) for AYC Delegate; and
at least one (1) but not more than two (2) for I-LYA Delegate. Also it shall be their duty to enter
these candidates’ names on an approved Swan Boat Club Ballot. The Committee shall present their
candidates to the membership at the nomination meeting, which is to be held at the General
Membership meeting in November. Nominations will be accepted from the floor at the nomination
meeting.
Candidates, in order to be eligible to hold office, must be active members in good standing for at
least two (2) years prior to nominations. Candidates for the office of Commodore must have held
an elected office on the Board of Directors for at least two (2) years to be eligible for nomination.
No member shall be allowed to hold office for more than two (2) terms consecutively. All
candidates nominated from the floor must be present unless a written note of acceptance has been
tendered to the Nominations Committee prior to the time that the nomination meeting is called to
order.
It shall be the duty of the Election Committee to prepare and present to the membership a series
of numbered ballots on Election Day at 10:00am. These ballots are to be in numerical sequence
starting with number one (1) each year. It shall also be their duty to prepare absentee ballots to be
mailed, upon written request with a self-addressed stamped envelope, to any member in good
standing. Absentee ballots must be requested no later than the 20th day of November each year.
All absentee ballots must be returned in the envelope provided to the Election Committee prior to
the start of the elections on Election Day to be counted.
Election Day shall be the Saturday before the Sunday membership meeting in December. The
Nomination Committee shall also be the Election Committee and shall have the authority to
appoint personnel required to conduct an orderly election. (Amended 10-13-13) It shall be the duty
of the Election Committee upon being presented member’s paid up cards to obtain a signature of
the member on the registration sheet of the Election Committee for posting in the membership
roster and filed with the election records. A ballot will be given to the member who shall vote
according to the instruction sheet attached.
It shall also be their duty to collect all ballots by 6:00pm on Election Day, to be counted and the
results to be announced by 8:00pm the same day, and reported on a tally sheet showing all votes
cast for each individual office. It shall also be the duty of the Election Committee to keep a file of
election records.
