My connections with Staveley begin in the 1800's. My GGGGparents, Bernard and Mary FEATHERSTONE had their children in Staveley in the 1840-50's. I think they had a Charles FEATHERSTONE in the late 1840's, and then my GGGmother Catherine FEATHERSTONE in 1851. Somehow Catherine met David LEFTLEY of Suffolk, and they married in Yorkshire, adn lived in Yorkshire until Davids death in 1893. Catherine returned to Staveley, and lived there, Brimington & Whittington until her death in 1905. Catherine and David Leftley's children were
Charles Leftley b 1878
Peter Cyrus b 1880
Mary b 1885
John b 1888
George Leo b 1890.
I know lots about Charles, and Leo as he was known, but nothing of Peter, Mary or John.
I would love to hear from anyone who remembers the Leftley Lefley family in the Staveley area, or any FEATHERSTONEs who may be from the same Bernard and Mary Featherstone.
Also, my grandmother Winifred MILUM, was living at the funeral parlour on Dukes Street when she married John Lefley, (Jack) in 1938. Prior to that she worked at a house called or on Hill View as a domestic servant. Would anyone know which house this would have been? Are there any large homes called Hill View?
I'd be really pleased to hear from anyone who has connections to my tree, or would just like to chat about Staveley history.
