Re: Pete Hosey

Pete, Lathan is just being modest. He is really good and very talented. I'm his biggest fan....Trish

Re: Pete Hosey

Not much to tell. I did the usual 60's garage band stuff. Country-rock bands. Made a CD, played on other people's records, did some TV. Now, that sounds more impressive than it was. For the last few years I've played for gospel groups and I do some solo things in churches. Really no big deal. I've found out recently that Lewis "Fess" Simpkins wrote "Night Train." Bobby Mizzell played piano on "Chantilly Lace." Now that, to me, really is impressive. I knew them both. I took band lessons from Mr. Simpkins in the sixth grade, but I never made the band. I couldn't learn to read music and I hated the trumpet. Bobby Mizzell lived next door on Thomas Hill, and I heard him learn to play the piano. Night and day he played, "Beg Your Pardon." And, of course, "Boogy Woogy." Do you remember Uncle Johnny Robinson's String Band? It was a hillbilly radio show that was on WMLS every Saturday morning. Don't let this get out, but I used to play bass fiddle on that show when I was a kid. I thought it was a real hoot. On one show, I played a mandolin. I had never picked up a mandolin in my life until that day. How did it sound? Use your imagination. About like American Idol.

Re: Re: Pete Hosey

Well, Trish, you might be his "biggest fan," but I'M his BIGGEST fan! You can't top 310, can you?

HAR! HAR! HAR!

Seriously, Pete, you might need dark eyeglasses for self-preservation when you LOOK at him, but The Peester's music is REALLY something special!

WOW! Did I say that, or has he become a long-range ventriloquist?

Re: Re: Pete Hosey

"Uncle John" Robinson was my real uncle..At least he was married to my Aunt Gussie, my dad's sister..I lived with them for several years after my mother's death in 1932..She was a real saint and like a mother to me..Uncle John tried to teach me to play the guitar, but with no luck..I still don't know one note from another and can't even sing..Used to walk down to the movies on Saturday afternoon and go to both shows..Had a whole quarter and it cost ten cents for each show and I had a nickle left over for popcorn..

Re: Re: Re: Pete Hosey

Pete, Old Fogey, Could you two send me a picture of yourselves? I'd like to put them in my Camp Glosson picture album. Anyone else that could send me their pic would be greatfully appreciated and would go in my album. You can't know how much pleasure it givews an old reprobate to browse through pics of friends, old and new. MVB ES

ES:

I'll try to rake you up a pic..There aren't many of me as I don't volunteer to pose..You'll see why if I find one I can send you...Most of any recent ones are of myself and my granddaughter when my son grabbed a shot..

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Pete Hosey

I would, but I don't have the computer stuff to send it with. I don't like pictures of me. For some reason, they always look old and fat.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Pete Hosey

I'll send you two pictures of me which I'll make tomorrow, E.S., one old and one fat --- you can put my name on one of them and Pete's on the other --- or vice-versa.

Har! Har! Har!
