My daughter wants to go to this artist but I have had a look at his portfolio and Im not so sure about his artistic prowess.
I really dont want her coming home with something on her body that she would regret for the rest of her life!
Could some professionals have a look at his portfolio and maybe put my mind at rest.

Bear in mind that some people use this forum to start fights they won't have to back up.. but..
The work as shown doesn't seem to be of the highest quality,putting it mildly.Best thing is to get your daughter to look at a wider range of tattoo shop websites (not bme or tattooartists.org-they publish any old shit)and some of the international tattoo magazines.
Knowing what kids can be like,good luck talking some sense into her,but as a pro tattooist and collector,I'd say "NO GO"!

i dont really like commenting on other peoples work but he could have picked a better picture for the main one when you enter the website, the guy got a portrait of a baby, pity it wasnt his.....
some of his tribal and script is good.

Thank you both for your comments! Hopefully Samantha will see that there are other people willing to be truthful about what they see, and thankfully, she doesnt want tribal or script done, I believe she would like a flower design.

Hi Grace i have viewed deal tattoo website and alarm bells rang when i looked over a very lets say poor portfolio! tattoo has much more to offer these days and the fact that the studio has recently changed its name without its owners speaks volumes for the artists bad reputation.please for your daughters sake go and visit other studios and tattooers sites. all the best P

Painless Jeff is in Deal that is where I would go if I was after a tattoo in that part of Kent.

Thanks for the recommendation of "Painless Jeff" for us, but we cant find anything on the internet (photos of his work). We will take a trip up to visit him soon though so thanks again.. we have also found a few good studios in the area as well and we figure that the tattoo is there for life so it is very well advised to take your time and do the homework!!

hi grace...in my opinion the best artist in your area is steve graves at the tattoo shop in folkstone...he has no web site to view but if you go along to his studio he is very helpfull and would be keen to design with your daughter something she would be proud to display....i have lots of work by this artist and never regret any.....

This is somewhat unfair Okay perhaps not a portrait tattooist but I have work from this studio and it is of a very good standard. I have had several Now and very pleased with them. Believe me if I wasnt Id be the first to shout.

What ever the out come for your daughter DO NOT Go to Jeffs, he was good in his day but nowdays you have to drag him out of a Pub, I had work by Jeff and he scarred me, and Deal Tattoo (Tribal Nations then) did a bloody good cover up.

hhhmmmm its a dificult one this one..i have seen work done at this studio and i thought it was better than some of the work shown in certain tattoo magazines .however i cant understand why you and your daughter havent gone allong to the many studios around your area(you say you are from Dover wich has two)and had a look whats on offer else where .you may be suprised at the diferent variations at artistic prowes..good luck in your queust ..and remember A TATTOO IS FOR LIFE NOT JUST THE SUMMER.p.s i tried to contact you by email but it came back saying the email address didnt exsist

let me just put the record straight.... ive had several tattoos by martin and chris at desl, And on every occasion these guys have been very professional.Not just when doing the tatto but in the after care.It seems to me that some seems to have the hump with these guys! If u have aproblem with these guys be a man(or woman) and tell them dont neg them on here.I have no loyalty to martin or chris, i go there because of the service i recieve and the quality of the work...

I have had 5 tattoo's mainly tribal work done at Merlins of Dover which on each visit have been happy with the service and result. I was desperate for a new tattoo and found what I wanted online. I heard good things about Tribal Nations in deal so visited them yesterday. Warm welcome and very helpful. I showed them the design I wanted, they took it and drew it up for me. I returned l8r. They made me feel welcome and comfortable and even got a cup of tea!! The design I went for was a name in graffiti, very complicated with lots of detail. He adapted the design to my needs and the end result was wicked. Dont believe all you here on this site coz I left a very happy customer. Keep up the good work!!!!

Also I know the reason the Studio name was changed, It was to put the studio higher up in the phone book listing considering the expanding growth of tattoo studios in Kent. Despite what anyone may insinuate.
