FAITH MEETS THE NEED FOR FREON

FAITH MEETS THE NEED FOR FREON

The car’s air conditioner put out no cold. Then the seller told me, “All it needs is some freon.” But before I bought, I took a car like that to a mechanic friend who told me that the compressor was not even there!

“Trust me,” the seller says. When I hear “Trust me,” or “Believe in me,” or “Have faith in me,” I don’t. The Bible says that cursed is the man who trusts in man. (Jer. 17:5) Why I don’t even trust myself! And since I sin every day, why would I trust myself?

And yet, for some reason the Lord considers trusting Him so important that trusting vs. disbelief is the difference between a free ticket to Heaven vs. a well-earned trip to the Lake of Fire.

When I was 9 years old I went forward at the end of the church service to join the church. The preacher asked me, ~ “Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God?” I said, “Yes.” And I did. They then baptized me (complete immersion) in a creek and my name went on the church roll. But I was not saved. There must
be millions of unsaved church members (including probably some in your denomination!) who believe that God is a trinity and the Jesus is God the Son and the
“Savior.” Mere belief in facts about God saves no one. As James says, “The demons believe and tremble.”

Belief which saves is belief in the sense of trusting, depending upon the Lord Jesus as Savior. And the Bible reiterates this as in that the new birth and Heaven are conditioned upon it. People in
the Lake of Fire may long for a good air-conditioner, loaded with freon. Those who depend upon the Lord Jesus will not have any such unmet need. But why would the Lord make the presence of that one virtue called faith the determining factor for the enjoyment of all His blessings?
