Re: Re: File Sharing

Right on! Horace, He collected songs, etc off other sites that were giving them away, compiled himself a hoard of stock then decided to add it to his minestry, but ole man Greed stepped in, He called it God, but its not the God I worship, that told him to charge a fee to join his club so he wouldn't go broke.
My bible says God will!!, not maybe, but WILL provide our needs, not only that, but some of our wants too!! Ain't that great!! He's still on the net if you want a piece of him, Jimmy and Lathan are already gearing up for him. MVB ES

Re: Re: Re: File Sharing

I have absolutely no problem sharing music. Go to your library, check out the CD's you want and go home and copy them. I've done that to all the librarys in B'ham. Borrow friends and neighbors CD's. It makes me so happy and my conscious don't bother me a bit.
I love to do it.

Re: Re: Re: Re: File Sharing

I went to Washington a couple of months ago (supposedly) to lobby against people downloading songs from the net because it supposedly affected our royalties. I really went because I had never been to Washington and it was a free trip courtesy of ASCAP. I told the Congressman (Ric Keller District 8 - Orlando, Florida) that it didn't bother me a bit if people downloaded my songs.
When I first started writing I was just happy that anyone would listen to them anyway and have never really felt any different.
When I started getting paid for my music I felt and still feel, the same way because ASCAP (my residual distributor) is very generous to me and a few dollars here or there can't make that much difference.
Tom Petty said that downloading his records was good advertisement because people who buy CDs do so for the CD Cover and to have the total package of who wrote the song, who played in the band, etc...

If I've gotten off the subject, try this. Telleth the Pseudo-Preacher to goeth and screweth himselfeth into the groundeth...

..untilleth he cometh outeth in Chinaeth!

"Ah, SO, Kokomo! You come here and there I go!"

"Jissa lil' POME there for ya'!)

Re: Re: Re: Re: File Sharing

I agree with Ears. Let me borrow a CD for about 3 minutes and I'll have a copy. I don't mind sharing either.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: File Sharing

Okay, I'll admit it --- I'm a thief, too. But not music. I steal cassette and DVD movies and make them my OWN with a HUGE stack of DVD-R's! Heh! Heh! Heh! MINE, DO YOU HEAR? MINE! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

I've even got my own setup to defeat copy protection. HAR! HAR! HAR! HAR! HAR! Hee! Hee! Hee!

Re: Re: File Sharing

That's what I think about The Reverend Hagee, who lives in a very much CLOSED and gated community close to where I live. The only thing they DON'T have on their gate is a machine-gun nest (May be one hidden!).

I call the boy "The Reverend Hogjaw," because his jowls shake just like a Poland-China's. RICH sonofagun goes back and forth in a STRETCH limousine!

Y'all gon' GIVE to "Cornerstone Church"?

Yah, I know --- I'm nasty ---- "Judge not!"

Re: Re: Re: File Sharing

If it says free, I'll take it. If they don't want to give it to me, I'll take my business somewhere else.
Case in point; My late Bro in law bought a franchise on a special kind of grass, I told him people would share instead of buying from him after the first buy. He said "Oh no, I make them sign a contract not to do it. After the first sale, everybody had miracle grass and my poor Bro in law was stuck with his grass. Do I think coping music or movies stealing? If I did it for profit, Yes, But for my own use? No. A good rule of thumb is, don't write a check that your concious can't cash. MVB ES

Re: Re: Re: Re: File Sharing

Don't really want to be disagreeable, E.S., but let's carry that a bit further:

If I roar off in your new Corvette, that ain't stealing, right? After all, it's "for my own use," right? I ain't ABOUT to sell it or anything! LOL

Hmmmm! Lathorm, I've decided I'm comin' down there to Port Saint Titusville and make off with your houseboat --- for my own use, of course! Would you make sure the larder is fully stocked? Thankee!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: File Sharing

I beg to disagree Jimmy, in the first place I don't nor never will own a corvette and if I did, you'd get about ten yards with it before I blowed your ass off with my trusty 30-06. Nobody, I mean noboby touches my wheels. Now, on the other hand if I parked it on the road and had a sign saying, Completely free corvette, all bets would be off. SHAREZA shares music with anyone who wishes to share with. I have nearly all Glen Millers songs on my puter, for my own use, understand? I will share with you for a small fee, not for the music, but to join my "Screw your friends" Club. MVB ES

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: File Sharing

You want Honesty? Even the Churches are guilty of screwing the poor songwriter (if you want to call it that).
Case-in-point. When I first moved to Nashville I had met Kris Kristofferson and his song "WHY ME LORD?" Had been a recent big, big hit for him. I told him that I bet he had made a bunch of money on the SHEET MUSIC Which was selling at the time for $1.98 Per Copy. I told him also that I bet the Churches bought millions of copies because the song was sung in some churches the way we sing THE OLD RUGGED CROSS.
His answer was, "NO! The churches usually buy one copy and Zerox the rest for the congregation." Now, it may be unintentional, but still it's the same thing as we do on our computers by downloading for free.
I think it's even worse in Kris's case...
