The thing that really hacks me about people like that is that they prey mainly on old folks, shut-ins, poor people, really GULLIBLE people, and others who can LEAST afford to be gulled.
I have now put all three of our cell phones and our home phone on the DO NOT CALL list, but, as that doesn't stop the con men, I also have an answering machine setup that allows me to see who's calling without stopping what I'm doing. Wish I had the "caller ID on TV" setup like you have, E.S., but I'd have to pay Time Warner another $20 a month or more to sign up for "digital TV," and I don't need that. Who the fork wants to watch reruns of "Brokebutt Mountain"?
Jimmy, the number I have used to belong to a black family that lived in Pennington. They must have access to old phone numbers. I told them I wasn't that person and they said it didn't matter, they'd still give the money to the person that had that number. I could hear people jabbering in the background, sounded like a mad house. Sure would like to get them suckers caught, but I don't know who to call. anybody out there know of a place I could report them to? Lathan, Frances said the bio freeze didn't help her back at all. Maybe it will help Oner and Winnie tho, I'm still gonna give it a try. We ate dinner with Frances and Paul yesterday and it was larping. That woman can cook! MVB ES
A few years ago there was a mix-up at South Central Bell and we got the same phone number as the weather bureau.
Every morning I'd get ready to go to work and the phone would ring and this guy would want to know if the Coast was Clear. I told him if he would give me his number I'd let him know because I was working in Cocoa Beach at the time and I'd check for him but he kept hanging up on me.
A true, true story?!??
