had hsv type 1 encephalitis in 2000 with seisures hospital!! released me without brain scan to check virus had gone from brain very naive at time !!! thought I was ok ....3 weeks later the dreaded virus!!! made its entrance again hsv 1 encephalitis again!! ....memory short term and mood swings ..very frustrating disease..thought that was the las of it....cant get me again......!!! 2008 going through stressful divorce caused by disease!!! .....started with headache!!! ....but this time very sore!!!! red eye!!!!!! and not feeling well.....had been very stressed lately....symptoms very rapidly!! ie few hours later NO SIGHT IN RIGHT EYE !! ..thought it was conjunctivitis... how wrong ..went to hospital eye clinic day after......after 2 minutes aws surrounded by 4 doctors!!!!!! 1 MENTIONED THAT IT COULD BE VIRAL!! I IMMEDIATELY TOLD THEM THAT I HAD PREVIOUS ENCEPHALITIS HERPES SIMPLEX TYPE 1 AND THEY IMMEDIATELY KNEW THE CONDITION ........HERPES SIMPLEX TYPE 1 RETINAL NECROSIS A BLINDING CONDITION..VERY RARE ......BUT POSSIBLE FOR PREVIOUS HSV 1 OR 2 CONDITIONS IE ENCEPHALITIS.........Life is supposed to begin at 40!!! cant wait for 50....

I had menigioencyphalitis which is menigitis and encyphalitis this year, 5 day coma and life support. Married with a 2 year old. no one understands how it feels to know that your are just half a tick off. I get so frusterated. Everyone says they know how i feel but they dont or they say oh i do that, i have blank spells, no you dont not like this. please help me. someone who really does no how I feel. I try to stay strong for my daughter but I need to get out how bad the mental and physical and emotional pain with dealing with this.

i was 16 years old when i got encephalitis and none of the docters could tell me much about it when i asked them questions. i am now 20 years old and still get bad headaches! is tgat normal? can i get it again??
No one seems to be able to ancwer these questions... Also ever since iv had encephalitis i have an extremely bad immune system and get sick often with random things??
Its hard to explain to other people how bad it is to have had this and the pain was excrutiating...i was wishing i would just die and get it over with because it hurt so bad!!

My sister, who is 56 years old and has a 12 year old son was diagosed with Herpes Simplex Encephalitis in January 2008. She spent about 2 weeks at home going from doctor, emergency room, back to doctors until she became unconscious and was taken to our nearby ER and airlifted to UNC Chapel Hill Hospital in Durham, NC. She was unconscious for about 4 days and came back to us and then spent another 2 weeks at the hospital. She is presently home since February 2008. We have a lot of questions! No one seems to be able to tell us much. It's just a "wait and see" thing. Just wondering if anyone else feels as helpless as we do?

My son 16 yrs was diagnosed with Jap B viral encephalitis on 2nd feb and was in hospital for 6 weeks, he has recovered and has come back home but is still suffering from memory loss and speech clarity I am sooooooooo scared that if he will not recover fully what will happen, if there is any precaution or care to be taken to speed up his recovery kindly let me know.

I collapsed and had 3 fits on 08/02/2008 I was diagnosed with viral encephalitis and stayed in hospital for 8 days. Apart from not remembering anything about the first 24 hours the only effects I have noticed are frequent headaches and being very tired - I think I must have been very lucky. X

STARTING WITH A 20 MILE COMMUTE FILLED WITH FEAR, CONFUSION, AND HEART PALPITATIONS. THE MEDS HELP, BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN THE SAME SINCE MY JOURNEY BEGAN IN 2000. I DON'T SEE MY TWO SONS, I DON'T HAVE ANYONE, BUT MYSELF IN THIS BIG CRAZY WORLD. I AM AFRAID THAT I AM GOING TO LOSE MY JOB.
